Which chipset do you feel comes out on top? How do the benchmarks add up? Has anyone had any actual personal experience with these two chipsets and their performance and reliability?

Y know, I would have to say the SIS 655 because well first off its cheaper. Performance wise they are pretty equal, but the 655 is a bit ahead.
Plus the E7205 is more of a workstation chipset.
The only thing the SiS655 has over the Intel GB chipset is the fact it can run DCDDR333 rather then 266.
But other then that, the SiS board is just as expensive as the GB board. There loaded SiS655 board goes for around $250.
Please not worth the time or effort.
Both these the SiS655 and the E7205 are both workstation class motherboard. Kinda hard to pick between the two chipset but I would pay a bit more for the E7205 because Intel makes better chipset while SiS are known to make jokes for chipset. Good thing they withdrawled in the AMD Chipset market, they honestly sucked at it.
I guess 33 posts didn't make a difference from 21. It's kind of disheartening.Quote:

That's rude regarding someone elses opinion SIS Freak.
I think SiS are jokes awell.
If you had a basis for your opinion, I'd listen. Considering these are just rants coming from your part, I consider your 'opinion' (not being based on anything factual) as being void. I'm sorry if that offends you, however this is the truth. :)Quote:

I'd actually have to agree with himQuote:

If you look down about three threads from this posting, the same poster left rude, and immature statements about SiS, which weren't even close to being, in anyway, factual.
How are they jokes? is it that they are a more affordable chipset maker, or the fact that they are INTEL's only true Pentium 4 based chipset competitiors?
Maybe you guys should use a SiS chipset for a while, and notice what efforts, and effective prosecution of their chipsets. SiS has great AGP, and IDE drivers, along with great official support, as they are known for their pure efforts to bring a fast, and effective chipset, without the cost.
Check out anandtech's review. It compares a few 655 against one 850 and a GB.Quote:

You'll notice the 655 only pulls away from the GB when it's running at DDR333 and DDR400, although in the some tests the GB beats the DDR333 AND DDR400 speeds of the 655.
If you compare the SIS DDR266 vs the GB there's not a lot in it.

man, seems like dual ddr is really not worth buying anytime soon... But this comparison between GB and SiS is rediculous, you wouldn't even tell the difference between their perfoamance during actual use... I'd go w/ the Granite Bay over the SiS just because my main reason for switching to Intel (from amd, which I still use p0lenty of amd rigs all over the place, just not as my main rig) was because I didn't want to deal w/ pain in the *** 3rd party chipset makers...
I personly like the SiS for a few reasons.first off i have never had a problem with any of the SiS boards of late.In fact the best comp I have built has been an SiS chipset. As far as cost the SiS will go down quicker than intel (for the pure fact that intel is greedy lol)which makes the SiS the better performance to cost ratio. One thing else that you would have to be thankfull for is that SiS even exsisted because if they were not around intel would really be raping you guys,if there is no compition (SiS) the prices of the intel would never really decrease in a manner that we are used too..
But guys i must say that i do like intel but I do prefer the underdogs.........I also have to say that this is just my 2 cents worth:) :) :)
SiS is trying, but simply cant keep up lol :p
Intel7205 , when overclocked especially, will blow SiS away.

Well i tried that but they were not quite ma cup of tea .....though AMD does have some good quailities but still me and AMD even recently are simply just not compatable....lol.
Its kinda like mixing oil with water....with alot of work you can actualy get them to mix but in only in a matter of minutes they separate again...then ya just have a mess....you get the picture;) ;) ;)
