cooling and thunderbird1ghz

i have PM'd this guy to help him out.

again, i carefully explained many of the in and outs of clocking, his chipset limitations, what to expect from his ram, and cooling. he still insists his PC3200 is the limitation, not his chipset.

i don't know how many times he has been told to get better cooling, many times, though.

he PM's me back and asked me again if getting a better heatsink and fan for the cpu would really help with his clockage, can you believe it?. his temps at idle are down to 60*c, bad in the clocking world by anyone's standards.

what do you all think, maybe a poll to help him out.

will he get a better clock with the cpu idling @40*c???

or will he not???

maybe if we all give him a collective nudge, he will get the picture.

what say, lets get him to clocking properly so he and we can move on to something else.

If he has one of those motherboards (like I do) that measures the core temp .. the absolute core temp ... then 60C is pretty decent. Mine goes up to around 76C full load.

When most people say "Oh my cpu is 30C" ... come on, a processor's core doesn't get that cold on air! :p That's a reading around the CPU, somewhere around the socket or something. The actual core temp is a good 15-20 degrees higher, which would explain his 60C.

... based on the reading I've done ...

does pudad = tbird1ghz? All he does is defend his "poor" friend tbird. Well my tbird 1800+ won't go past 1.8ghz but i don't think it sucks and ruins for all amds. As far as the kt400 he should have just gotten a 8k5a2(+) for single channel operation. If his ddr doesn't do 200fsb, it wouldn't matter anyway!

it gives us a challege to help a poor underprivilaged oc junkie that has been feeding a lot of bogus info to others when he really doesn't know what the hell he is doing himself! He is spam, worthless opinions about things he doesn't know about! Generalizing the whole computer field over ONE example computer configuration!

I think ignoring him would work, but I think it is too late. I have a deep down feeling he is instagating all of this just to get attention and thanks to a lot of people on the forums he is getting a lot of attention.
