Best Buy's Maxtor 120GB Cheap!

Hey guys, not sure if this is OT or not, but I couldn't let follow Sharkys let this go to waste. Best Buy has Maxtor 120GB (L01P120) 8MB cache drives for $129. There is a $30MIR to Maxtor, and then on top of that, there is $40 MIR to Best Buy.

But, just when you thought that the deal couldn't get any better, you can go online, and print out a MIR to Best Buy that says $50 in store only purchase.

I called up BB's Rebate Center, and they said it was okay to print out the $50MIR and send it in place of the $40 MIR that was printed out in the store.

That makes it: $129 - $30MIR - 50MIR = $49 + tax.

That's about 41 cents a Gig, before tax. Hope you guys can snag them before they get cleaned out. It won't last long. My roomate and I bought 4 of them. :) I'm up to 440GB now!

I bought the 2mb ones for $99 and I thought that was a great deal last december. I was lookin at getting 6 250's, just use 3, mirror the rest.

where is the $50 MIR for Best Buy? I only see the $30 that goes to Maxtor and $20 that goes to Best Buy

are those rebates hard cash or store credit?

MIR = Mail-in rebate. You will get a check from the company to cash at a bank

well i got one too but how did you get the $50 dollar rebate offer? i only got $40. When i looked at the webpage, i didn't find the $50 dollar rebate. Oh well, it's only 10 dollars.

Anywhoo, I currently have 2 hard drives, a 20 gig and a 40 gig. Is there anyway for me to have 3 drives?

Here's my setup. I have one 20 gig set as the master and than the 40 gig is set as the secondary. I then have my dvd player as my master and have a secondary IDE channel open.
Can i just plug the 120 gig in that channel?

it's online. check the last link on the page i liked to in my previous post. it says $50 MIR. :)

Yes, as long as the cable reaches and your PS can reliably supply enough juice to power them and the rest of your system.
Any more and you'll need a PCI IDE controller card.

Click Maxtor 40 and 120GB $20BBY MIR 7/13 Ad - on that page. It shows up as $50 on the form.

i think they found their error, it doesn't show up now (or I can't find it)

that's odd. it appears taht they changed from a 50 to a 30 now. weird! that's allright though, i printed out my 50 when it was still up. you can still get the 40 instore i think.
