Hey guys,
Well I've got a Epox 8RDA+ and it didn't come with the 5.1 speaker add-on card so I can hook up a 5.1 system to it. It's only got the standard 3 plug out let. Now I know nothing about computer audio, but I'd like to some time be able to get a 5.1 speaker system (maybe z640). Where can I get the add-on card? I can't find it anywhere one Epox's website.

umm no, I have a soundcard (it's built into my motherboard) I'm looking for a card that is suppose to be compatible with my mobo that let's me use a 5.1 system. Right now I've only got 3 plugs (line-in, mike, speaker), don't I need more to use a 5.1 system like the z560s?Quote:

Edit: You gotta buy a seperate audio adapter. The motherboard supports it, but doesn't include it. You can check computer stores (ie. newegg.com) to find a third-party adapter.
But you're better off getting a new sound card.
I looked at newegg.com but couldn't find it, what should I search under? I'm trying to save some money, I'd rather stick with my onboard soundstorm and buy a cheap add-on card rather than a $80 soundcard. Is the add-on card really that expensive? Or the quality that bad?
I remember reading two reviews of 8RDA+. I remember them both complained about how there was no adapter. It would cost around $10-20 so the review pointed out.
Btw, does your motherboard have Realtek ALC650E for audio, not soundstorm?
Soundstorm's audio quality is one of the best (if not the best) in terms of audio quality for an integrated solution. Many would say its better than Live! but under Audigy1.
Mine has Soundstorm, which I really like. That's why I was hoping to get the add-on card. Now I need to find that card, there is no mention of it on Epox's site. But I know it exsists... somewhere.Quote:

I also just checked Epox's site -> FAQ. Yup, No mention of it. I'm going to assume the Epox doesn't make the add-on adapter themselves. I wish I could give you a place where to get them. Maybe someone else already went through this.
If all else fails, you could always email them and see what they recommend.

Have you checked your MB manual to see how to setup your 5.1 speakers with the standard 3 plugs, Its shows how to do it for my 8rda+.Quote:

You should be able to download the manual, also if you have the soundstorm control panel it may show you how to do it, I would look it up in my MB manual, but right now I can`t find it. :(
