Radeon 7000 v. GeForce2 GTS (yes old cards!)

My friend offered me a card he bought because he thought his other video card died. Turns out it was just the monitor and that he doesn't need it. The card he bought was a ATI Radeon 7000 w/ 32MB DDR. He asked me if I wanted it. My old GeForce2 GTS w/ 64MB SDRAM is what I have now. I was wondering if the Radeon is better deal?

I have been looking online all day and cannot find any clockspeeds for the core/memory of the Radeon. Compared to my card now, would it be better for me to switch or just stick to what I have now???

I also have a Geforce 2 GTS 64mb, and I'd say stick with that. The only thing I'd consider upgrading to is a Radeon8500 with my limited budget.

The 7000 is a Radeon VE, think of it as the MX of the ATI world. Your Geforce 2 GTS is better, in almost every aspect. The 7000 probably performs similarly to a Geforce 256 and it only has 32mb of memory. YOu could benchmark them both and see which on scores higher, if you don't trust my advice.

The GF2 you have now is the superior of the two cards.

Actually, the GF256 would spank the 7000 - the 7000 is lacking a T&L engine. The 7000 shouldn't even be graced with the name Radeon.

Definitely, I've got a Radeon 7000 in my work PC and its performance is very poor, I can't even get RTCW:ET to run smoothly with everything turned right down.

Hmmm...wonder why!:p If you want an inexpensive upgrade, find an 8500.

What about a 7500. How does that compare?

7500 is a lot better. It still works for non-gamers. They still make new PCs with the 7500s.

I agree 100%. It's misleading to even call that product a Radeon. A Radeon 7000 is not much faster than a Voodoo3 3500 or a TNT2 Ultra.

The Radeon 7500 is about on-par with a GeForce2 Ultra. It seems that both perform similarly, but the 7500 tends to edge out the GeForce2 Ultra more than the GeForce2 Ultra edges out the Radeon 7500.

get a nice 8500Le for around 40 to 55$:)

am I right? wow its sad if you cant run a game with lowest details, what about the cpu equation doing the load?
