Yup, I finally solved my video card issues thanks to Un4given. I now have Counter-Strike running at 32bpp, 16xAF, and 6xAA, at 1280x960 resolution. I only get about 60-70 frams but hey, what they hell. The human eye only sees 72 frames per second anyways.

actually i think that the human eye can only tell up to 35 fps
hehe in a movie but not A 3d pc game. You want something more like 45+. What you realy want you frames at is the same as your refresh rate of your monitor. No more no less....Quote:

in CS, use the console

edit: eyes can only see 24fps (that's what they use for TV and movies.
But it won't be enough in games because 24 won't be constant.
And that refresh rate issue might be in on it too.
I think how many "frames" eyes can see is different from how many FPS looks smooth.

actually I think at around 12fps the eye becomes fooled but that may apply to movies, I dont think it mentioned itll be smooth though, just that itll look like motion. However around 30fps will make games smooth to me. If you are getting only 70fps, its your cpu holding you back. I dont have counterstrike but I get way over 300fps in quake3 and the fps is still 85 at 2048x1536x32 with max details :) and 132 in 1600x1200Quote:

The human eye can distinguish more than 200 "images a second"
An example. When lightning flashes you actually see it for that split second and not a series of seconds. Also if you trust someone enough you can shoot a bullet across your field of vision and you will notice it pass your field of vision even if you dont know what your seeing.
There was a study done last year about this..I think its still floating around the web somewhere..

the flash illuminates the sky and the glow lasts like half a second anyway, reguardless if the physical bot is long gone. and DO not try the bullet thing, thats how people die. Guns are NOT toys! and reguardless of what you say, TV is smooth for me and so are games at 30ish fps
It's crazy to still see people talking about the "human only sees xxx frames". I think these threads come up atleast once a month :p
I can tell the diffrence between 30/60/150 FPS in games. GAMES are not MOVIES, in a video game you don't have motion blur like you do in real life. Therefore when TV brodcasts are at 30 FPS, it looks fine, but playing a game at 30 FPS is not the same. You have no motion blur to compensate for those "missing" frames. The Human eye easily can tell the difference in 30/100 FPS in a video game.
I have seen the difference accroding to the fps counter but otherwise I have no clue. I did an experment and used the max fps command. set it to.....
10.......quite blocky
15........somewhat blocky
20........slightly blocky, but can aim just fine
30.........smooth
over 30..........smooth, no difference for my eyes
If I get over 30fps, I raise the details since I can tell the difference with extra details :)
I can usually tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps.. Since when you are around 30fps, it might dip and cause a very noticable slowdown.. But I dont feel anyone would notice over 60fps.. I dont think you can tell the difference between 100fps and 150fps.. That is just crazy talk :D :D :)Quote:

Not being able to tell the difference between 100 and 150 fps does not mean your eye can't sample 150 times a second.
