nVidia 4200 8xAGP Artifacts - Need advice...

After running continuously for 8 hours or so, my system starts displaying video artifacts. Little specs around the windows cursor, strange textures in some games, even speckles on the MSI MB startup screen when rebooting. The system isn't overclocked and CP / MB temps are 43C / 38C.

Are there some tools available to test the Video card? (I ran memtest all night last night and didn't get any system RAM errors).

The card is still under warranty, but I'm trying to verify that it is the card that is bad.

I'd try running 3DMark 2003. It stresses the video card a lot and will show if the card is having problems. memtest tests system RAM so no, that will not show if your video card is bad or not.

yeah, it's not overclocked. Before trying to OC, I wanted to make it work for longer than 12 hours stock.

I loaded MBM 5, and my 3.3V line is putting out 2.98V. Could this cause the problem?

The PSU is still under warranty also...

That is extremely low...:eek: What about the other rails? Me thinks your PSU may not be powerful enough...

Awwwww, don't say that!! Mine is 2.8 - BTW, does the 8RDA+ under-report this rail?? (Methinks as well I need a new PSU...)

Other rails are fine...but it still bugs me that the 3.3 is low.

Never heard of the 8RDA+ reporting any positive rails inaccurately. Only voltage issue I know of with this boad is under-volting at 1.85v. I had to go to 1.875 to get it to 1.84.:confused:

Anything under 3V on the 3.3V rail is just plain wrong.... You should be getting random reboots or something.

Ok, thanks. Will RMA the PSU and get a new one. Even if it doesn't fix the video issue, I would rather have it be right.

hwmicre - the 8rda+ reports the vdimm as the 3.3 if I remember right.

Ahhhhh, to quote Ed McMahon, "You are correct, sir!!!"....yep, my 3.3 read 2.77 - guess what? Vdimm!! Changed Vdimm to 2.9 - guess what also changed??!!
