Just curious, but do any 'brick and mortar' stores have good return policies? Especially the national chains? (i.e. Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit City, etc)?
I ask because recently I've found a trend that you can only return games if they are unopended or if there is a serious flaw (i.e. it doesn't work and it's not your fault).
Do any places still exsist that will take back games or allow you to exchange if, say, you don't like the game or it won't run on your system for whatever reason?
The stores in my area will only allow a exchange for the same game only.
A couple times at Babbages in Colorado when I lived there let me exchange a game I beat in a couple days, and one that wouldnt work for another that I wanted. Here in Vegas I havent found a place like that :(
Well if it doesn't run on your version of OS wouldn't that account as a major flaw?

You could just collect up ur old games and exchange it for credit for a new game.. I do it all the time.
I work at a national brick and morter have for 3 years now.
Our policy used to be return whatever you wanted in 7 days, PC, Console, open closed didnt matter. But people had to keep F3cking us over so everyone lost it.
Someday people will figure out they only hurt themselves with these "victmless crimes"
I've not seen any stores that currently will take back software unless unopened, or for exchange of same product only (because of damage, etc.)
I dont know of any stores that will allow a return on a opened box... If you didnt like it, when you are SOL and then sell it on a forum or ebay... Otherwise you are stuck with it...
All this would have been avoided with downloading demos and renting games BEFORE buying :)
I believe Wal Mart will still take back anything.

at the staples i use to work at they let you return any software if it was opened or not as long as the customer said "BUT IT DOESNT WORK BECAUSE MY PC USING THAT UNHOLLY WINDOWS XP!!!" and because everyone there knows nothing about computers but what people tell them about pc's they take the games, os software, and even tax software back. We had one customer buy games that said it worked for windows 98, ME, and 2000 but didnt say xp on the box so he would buy with a case of burned cds return the software in 4 days!!!
umm, well when a game is returned, it cant go back on the shelf, therefore profit is lost. I work for target and we have a policy that if its open, then you can only echange for the same.Quote:

Not always. I used to work for one of the mall-based software stores, and non-defective game/software returns were re-shrinkwrapped and put right back on the shelf.Quote:
