I have a retail ATI RADEON 9500Pro and was thinking of overclocking it. Is there a mod for the Pro version and can I get some detailed instructions? I bought the card back in January at newegg, and I am using the latest drivers from Omega, based on the Cat 3.7s if that helps.
BTW I used the search function and I only found out how to mod the non pro version. Is there a way to do it for the pro version?
All you need to do is get a program like rage3dtweak and up the core and memory timings until you hit artifacts, then back the core and memory off by about 5-10 mhz and your set :D
Well the 9500Pro is clocklocked, and I am beginning to think it was just the non pro that could be flashed to 9700 style BIOS. :(
Or do the Omega drivers do some of that for me?
Some tweakers let you overclock without a flash. I think the new rage tweak allows you to. Also use the 9800p driver string to boost a little performance. And if you want to gain more in performance you can always Vmod the GPU and or memory. Here is a good link on how to:

And there is a bios for your card to unlock it. Just find out what kind of memory you card has and I will show you how to find it.
Is your card a Red PCB L layout RAM or the straight line RAM?

Yup it's Red PCB and in-line mem. the markings on the mem are as follows: Infineon DDR SDRAM HYB250128323C 33 A 0242 (unsure about that long string it's hard to read)

And are you sure? I'm almost positive the early R9500 Pros had the L shaped RAM...:confused:
Um I'm looking at it right now and yeah it's in a straight line. I tried one of those OCers (think it was RivaTuner or something that I OCed my R7500 with) and it gave me the black bands across the screen had to shut down overnight and it reset to normal, so I don't think I can straight up OC this card. Unless there is some app or bios that will unlock it.Quote:

Yeah, you cannot o/c without a modded BIOS AFAIK. Get the BIOS/flash proggies here:

Anyway on that second page do I need ALL of that, one of each, or just some specific ones? And where do I find instructions? I like to print out instructions and follow them to the letter.
OK I did it, but now I'm scared as hell to try to OC it. I need to know that since I'm up, does that mean it went ok?
actually the early 9500 cards came in L shaped ram, they changed it to a stright line, because they needed to change teh PCB of the card cuz too many people were attempting to change their 9500 to a 9700.Quote:

UPDATE, I am now the proud owner of what detects as a 9700PRO, running on the latest Cats! Still holding my breath though.
If you're up and running after the flash, you're looking good!:D Just o/c a little bit and see if you get and improvements. Using the fill rate test in 3D Mark is easiest to see.
