Buffalo 3700 reads as 2700???

got a 512 meg stick of Buffalo technology PC3700 DDR466 ram from newegg yesterday, but sisoft sandra (2003) reports it as pc2700, is the memory mismarked or is sandra screwy?


legacy electronics ddr reads as-
Memory Module 2 : 87L5EDL0-1RDG 256MB 16x(32Mx4) DDR-SDRAM PC3200U (CL0 up to 200MHz) (CL429496729.1 up to 167MHz) (CL429496728.6 up to 34MHz)

buffalo tech reads as-
Memory Module 3 : 512MB 16x(32Mx8) DDR-SDRAM PC2700U-2533-700 (CL2.5 up to 167MHz) (CL2 up to 133MHz)

i was thinking that maybe sandra is messed up since it's saying the first module is capable of cas latency zero upto 200mhz (ya right) but cpu-z reports it as MELCO DDR-SDRAM PC2700 512MB

Having two speeds of memory really ****s things up.

Also most programs would not read PC3500 and up as PC3500 since its hasnt been approved :D I believe the max official speed is PC3200.. So most programs would only read it up to that...

i know having two speeds screws things up, but i'm running it on a 166mhz fsb, well below 200 so they SHOULD be fine... still shouldn't read the 3700 as 2700, unless it is somehow misenterpreting the 3 for a 2, just wondering it anyone else's buffalo 3700 reads as a different speed...

Take all of your RAM out leaving only the Buffalo RAM.
Of course in slot 1. Now see how Sandra reports it.

same thing...i'm starting to think it's been relabeled. not to accuse newegg, since they are a highly reputable company but it's the only conclusion i can think of, anyone got any ideas?

What version of Sandra are you using? Oh wait.. 2003??? Did you download Sandra MAX3?

You do know it is possible your board is reading the SPD incorrectly :)

Other then that I do not know.. Maybe someone sent it back to newegg with the old swap and newegg resold it as new????

But my PC3500 is reported as PC3200...

You can always just have them swap it out for you... If you are not sure.. Can you post a pic of it?

it's max3...i'll mess with the bios and see if it's the SPD thing messing it up, post a pic of the sandra reading or of the ram stick itself?

That can help.. I can compare it to other Buffalo PC3700 and see if the chips match...

I buy my RAM at a local shop, a couple of times they have given me the wrong RAM. I took it back, they replaced it apologizing. Someone had put it in the wrong bin.

yeah...cpu-z reads mine as melko pc2700...***???

some crazy **** happened. i turned off "detect by spd" and set it manually, rebooted, xp loads then wants to scan C: like i shut the pc off without shutting down or something, i dont think much of it, then it reboots and the desktop wont load, i hit ctrl+alt+del and explorer isnt running, i try to manually run it, it doesnt exist...i go to my backup drive and copy explorer.exe over, reboot and it works, run norton antivirus and 2 files were infected with Trojan.ByteVerify ...interesting. anyways i'm curious to see if speedy's chip #'s are the same as mine, here is what the chips say

cool, but why is it reading as pc2700, happening to speedy too...should we just not worry about it?
