i really dont understand why anyone would shell out $$$$ for them when twinmos/buffa****** does the exact same (if not better) for almost half the price...
the old crucial pc2100 sticks were the best bang for buck.. and now its the twinmos/bt with winbond chips... i was not even able to run the same timings/fsb with my old hyperx pc3500 and mushkin black.. never tried corsair, but i dont see any reports of corsair doing any better than the $45 stick of bt i have
I took HyperX because it was a proven overclocker and hyperx isnt expensive like corsair is.
i spent $100 a few months ago on hyperx pc3500... it ran great... 210mhz fsb , 8-3-3-3 timings, 2.7vdimm, single channel, up to 250mhz at 2.9vdimm and loose timings...Quote:

i think it may be a lil different for intel setups... in amd setups, the timings are more inmportant... in intel setups, the absolute fsb is more important... freaking 270mhz on any athlon setup would be insaneQuote:

When I bought mine I knew nothing of high end RAM and was extremely budget concious and the only cheap RAM I recognized the name was Crucial, so here I am with 2 sticks of PC2700 stuck at a max fsb of 184. I'm not too dissapointed but I do wish I would have known of these buffa****** sticks at the time.

about year ago.. a buncha SF overclockers (including me) were using the $26 crucial pc2100 sticks and getting 170-190mhz fsb
that was some crazy ram
About a year ago, I was using some Sammy PC2100 and only getting about 141fsb out of it. I think it was really my POS stepping Paly 1700+ and Shuttle AK31A that were really holding me back.

Hard to argue against the extreme price/performance ratio of the Buffa****** stuff ATM. I've gotten my hyper-x 3000 up to 221. I'm sure the sticks are capable of what Kaotik is claiming though. As always newer products will always perform better and cost less eventually
Well the Buffalo BH-5 sticks were real good for both AMD and P4 systems and then they disappeared and were replace by the CH-5 stuff that had mucho problemos with the dual channel P4C systems. You couldn't run properly with 5:4 or 3:2 ratio or wouldn't run strict timings whatever. So people are now on the lookout for the BH-5s. HyperX PC3000 has them as does earlier HyperX PC3200. Mushkin's lvl2 stuff also uses BH-5 so they are pretty popular with the P4 guys.

When I put 240, I was thinking 440, got the numbers mixed up in my head, that's all. (AKA: Typo, are we allowed to make those on this forum? :confused: )Quote:

And my sig is far from what I'm actually running. I had to drop to 200FSB because I put another stick of HyperX in but its only a 256mb stick of PC2700.
But my 512 stick of PC3000 can do 230MHz.
