Frys has a 512MB stick of HyperX PC4000 for $110. I was going to stay away from HyperX after the issues with this board, but have the problems that tormented other speeds(32/3500) been resolved with the 4000?
This is just one of those deals that makes you reconsider...

Yeah, there were problems with the HyperX but I run 2 512MB PC3000 HyperXs and it's fine. I really want to see what the PC4000 HyperX can do since mine does 206Mhz FSB @ 2-2-2-5 2.9V
What are the timings on that beast? :D
I had an 8rda+ and a 512 stick of PC3000 HyperX (now on sale!) for a lil while and it never gave me any problems. Haven't really seen anybody with problems with the 3500+ sticks of HyperX, you could give it a shot, return it if it doesn't work :|
I'd go for it.....I had problems with my PC3500 that were quickly resolved by an RMA. You may want to look at the rev level on the mem stick if u can to make sure it's the latest. It's a 3-digit # in the middle of the mem serial #'s.....mine was not current.....Kkngston can tell u what is.Quote:

Some of us don't have our own credit card and have to use our parents. Sometimes they can be sketchy when it comes to online purchases.

I just looked up the ad (Las Vegas here). The ad included a logo of the ValueBrand series... but it says HyperX in the details.
Since its rated at PC4000, it should still perform at that speed no matter what. I would think the timings on this is 2.5-3-3-6 or even worse... 3-4-4-8.
I doubt it'll perform any less than what Corsair has to offer :)

And I'm assuming its local for him, considering it's Frys, and he said he will buy it for someone, I'm assuming he means buying it for them and then he will ship it to them. I would bet money that it's local to him.
The holder of the number one spot for the 4200 on the 3D Mark team data base is using one 256mb stick of Kingston value ram and he has run it at 438mhz, at lease for the 3D Mark run. I don`t know, maybe the value ram is the the way to go for higher OC`s then the LL ram.

Fry's made a typo in their ad. I'm not sure if its really HyperX or Value Ram... but I have a gut feeling that it is value ram because its so cheap.
Also, notice the STUPID rebate.
There were some pretty bad problems with hyperX 3000, 3200 and 3500 when overclocking on the Epox 8rda+ with A1 north bridges when running the memory in dual channel. Most of the systems couldn't get past 180fsb or so without crapping out. I don't know if it was ever resolved by either Epox or Kingston, or if Kingston's newer memory no longer has that problem, but there was a big thread here regarding it, see the link below

I believe it has been fixed with the new REV. 2.1`s and I believe 2.0`s also. I have Hyperx PC3000 and have had mine upto a 200fsb.Quote:
