The recently announced Dell UltraSharp 2001FP, 20in, 16ms Response, 1600x1200 native, 400:1 contrast ratio, S-Video and Composite Inputs
What isn't there to love? Ohh yeah the fact that they won't sell them to you unless you buy a Dimension XPS. Only adds $610 to the system price, not bad at all, if it wasn't for the fact that Diminsion XPSs are ridculously overpriced so you are paying for it somewhere.
I woudl be very happy to get my greasy little fingers on one of those... Ill just have to sand off the Dell logo.

who makes them i wonder? are they rebadged samsungs again, or made by some manufacturer especially for dell (so you can't get one direct, and have to buy the dim-mention :p )?

Hmm, wondering if I can buy an XPS system and one of these for $610 more. Then return the XPS and keep the monitor.
maybe you could buy their basic celeron system, is it $599? then sell or ebay it for like $500 and keep the good value LCD. That looks like a pretty nice one, also the bonus is you can also run 800x600 since its half native res so everything should not be blurry since it just takes native res and doubles the pixels but it cant do that at say 1024x768 so you see tons of jaggies on everything and text is hard to read!

Exactly. And actually, more to the point, the panel (not the monitor but the panel itself) was made by LG, which also makes the 2080UX from NEC. This panel (the 2001fp I mean) has the exact same stats as the 2080UX+ is listed to...regardless of who the rebadge is from, it's almost certain that the panel is LG.Quote:

youd need a pretty beefy card to run modern games at that res, a ti4200 might not cut it, especially with aa/af and max details :(
Most modern games on newer cards are mainly limited by CPU. I do not see much difference in most programs going from 800x600 to 1600x1200. Unless AA is turned on then a lot becomes unplayable. For instance Splinter Cell gives me nearly identical framerate. Although with a 4200 there is a lot of stuff out ther VC limited as well.Quote:

that is why I dont want to upgrade that ti4200 as long as it countiunes to scale. I may get an a64 a while from now and if my fps are not good enough then I get a new card only then!
