This is absolutely ridiculous.lol It's $20 and it comes out early. Madden has no chance.:(
Madden has a chance for one reason: It's name. I'd wager it'll still outsell ESPN this year, although I think it will be alot closer. Basically, ESPN is a great game. Its just newer and not as widely known as Madden. So it still needs to build a fanbase.Quote:

I think in a few years, once its been around for awhile and everybody's at least played one iteration of it, it's going to be really neck-and-neck.
I'm still gonna hold off for ESPN and Madden though. NCAA Football is my prime focus at this point. :)
^^^Yeah same here. NCAA looks more appealling than nfl anything right now. BTW, whats the major difference between madden and espn? graphically, they look similar so im assumming its with the gameplay. Ive never played ESPN football but I did play NFL 2k2 for the dreamcast.
I have to be honest, I've only played NFL 2k3 and if it's gameplay is similar to Espn Football then madden's gameplay is a bit more realistic. But I shall see when espn 2k5 is released.
Heh, coolness, it'll be fun to see who sells more. I think ESPN 2k5 will sell more, especially if ESPN 2k5 gets the same kind of reviews. The scores will probably be close. It's hard to say, because Madden has many followers. It will be close. ESPN will need to sell a lot more to make up the money different though. I only followed Madden for the last 14 years because there was nothing else, and it's disappointed me many times. So I'm ready to switch, and i hope ESPN 2k5 is awesome.
It's hard to imagine people will pay more than double for Madden, when it's almost certainly not going to be close to being twice as good. If only they would release Madden 2005 for $19.99 on the PC...then I'd have a choice to make, but it's looking like ESPN 2k5 is the clear answer here. I'm mainly looking forward to online play, so that will be a big part of my judgement, EAsports and EAbig have done a horrible job with their online gaming stuff. It does kinda feel like July 20th is early for football, I guess the first real NFL game is only a month away though.
The 2k series has always been better than Madden!
it has online support right?
Like always it should.:)
Yeah! go against the grain!Quote:

I don't think it's better than Madden especially not 04, but at $20 who cares. I'm gonna grab this game and I can't wait. I didn't play last season's version and I'm anxious to play a running back in first person view. As long as I can update my roster via XBOX live or whatever, I'm freaking happy. It's like a sore **** it can't be beat.
For those that have played espn football how is the first persion view feature?
I was wondering that myself, seems like it'd be kinda weird.Quote:

IGN gave ESPN 2k5 a 9.3, I gotta think anyone who buys Madden this year just doesnt know any better, or is a really...really devoted Madden fan. ESPN and Madden will probably get about the same reviews on most sites. Here's the IGN review

Errr.... no.
Sorry but for simulation, Madden is better.
And judging from this months EGM, they had a head to head, and Madden came out on top.
Becuase the game had a nice visual upgrade, and the defense with defense playmaker control has had an overhaul.
I guess if your a casual football gamer ESPN is better, I'll be buying both but Madden has always been the best for simulation.

Well I am not loyal to any brand, hell usually I buy both games every year. Madden is just better for a more solid realistic representation of football.
If I had to choose between the two, even though ESPN is 30 dollars cheaper, I'd buy Madden.
