i like UT as well very intresting you gotta use your brain aswell as you skill (even though i suck at the game) Ive neer played soldiar of fortuen but that looks intresting, also Hitman looks hella nice

The_Avatar
Arcadian,
Hitman and Hidden & Dangerous were just a bit to slow and tactical for me https://www.sharkyforums.com/ They appeal to a load of people though and I'm simply not good enough to play. UT on the other hand... Soldier of Fortune was one of those strange games I'd followed during its 18month development. When I first saw it and played, it was amazing.. then it took a bit of a nose dive until it finally got released. THe quake 2 engine began to show it's age too... Shame really.
I STILL like TFC the best https://www.sharkyforums.com/ I may pick up a copy of Quake III if weapons factory arena is a good conversion. Anyone played it yet?
$ .02

- Look for me playing TFC as the mad demoman Adisharr :)
There have been soo many great ones, its hard to have A SINGLE favorite, but some of my fav's are:
Blood 2: the chosen
HALF-LIFE (Of couse)
Deus Ex
Heretic (I never played the full version, but the shareware was great)
Right now UT is my fav! =D

Multiplayer - UT
Singleplayer - Deus Ex
But then, that's probably pretty damn obvious from my reviews of these two. :)

Single Player has to be Half Life. Havent played Deus Ex yet though.
Multiplayer has GOT to be Counterstrike. While it's not (yet) a stand alone game, just a mod, it has the most addictive and fast paced game play I've ever experienced. All I need to do now is get a group of friends to play with, because on public servers there's too much rush and not enough teamwork. But that's another thread all together....

Hmm, I never could get into half life / counterstrike because it was too SLOW paced. Seems like you walk around everywhere...to each his own tho! https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/5.gif
I know this might sound crazy in this day and age of "supra-3d-whiz-bang-I-got-a-joystick-with-a-hat-keyboards-r-4-losers", but I STILL like DOOM and DOOM2. I especially love all the add-ons and mods out there for it. Ihe game has everything I have ever wanted in a FPS....lots of action and SIMPLE gameplay. I've tried Half-Life and Quake(1 thru 3) and I must say that I don't get why people love Quake 3 so much other than it is visually entertaining. I s**8 SOOOOO bad at it I can't even beat the comp!! All I end up doing is running in circles and dying by my own rockets! I also HATE the "3d-jump-off-walls" crap. Just go toe2toe and we'll see who's the winner https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/5.gif
Call me a purist, but there's my 2 bits! https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/5.gif
Slow paced??? I guess it's not Deathmatch.. but Half Life had..well..a story? And as for Counterstrike...you MUST do Speed if you thing counterstrike is slow!! https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/6.gifQuote:

I loved Half-Life single player when I first started playing it. It truely seemed to have everything I had ever wnated in a singleplayer game. Towards the end, about 3/4 of the way in to the game however, I got VERY bored. The AI seemed to get.. umm... more stupid as the game progressed. The big boss guy in the pit I found had a lot of bugs. Sometimes he didn't react to you being there at all. I dunno.. characters and enemies just seemed redundent after awhile. It kept me totally enthused for so long.. then the satasfaction of playing the single player game just seemed to leave.

the ultimate in twitch and shoot.
Counterstrike singlehandidly makes Halflife worth buying for anyone who doesnt have it yet (and its considerably old when you think about it)Quote:

If anything, mods for FPS games make those games almost limitless, or as limited as technology and creativity goes!

Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder.
I have to say Counterstrike or TRIBES, possibly UT also.
Unreal Tournament is the best game ever made. Quake 3 sucks! Epic has made an excellent game, with great gameplay, graphics and level design. I can't wait for UT 2 !! Only problem is that UT uses to freeze http://dev.www.sharkyforums.forums.relay.cool/ Anyone know why ?
UT runs fine for me. Never freezes. Maybe you should list your system specs and go from there. Earlier on i had some problems with UT freezing but I upgraded my video card and everything is running fine now. I got a Creative GeForce 2 and it runs fine under D3D.Quote:

Remember Alien Doom ('course ya do)? Easily one of the best mods ever, certainly yet to be bested as a single player mod (although They Hunger is pretty cool). It wasn't until AvP came out that any game to do with Aliens (even commercial Aliens games) came close to being as good. :)Quote:

I think everyone disliked the Xen levels. They looked great but played badly. I hated the jumping puzzles especially (I've hated jumping puzzles since Wonderboy on the Master System and can only barely tolerate them if they're few and far between and done in third person). I couldn't do the long jump thing (of course, I only worked it out AFTER finishing it) so I ended up Gauss Gun jumping my way through the initial bits with jumping puzzles. The end boss was a tad dumb but it was fun delivering the final shot with the Glock, James Bond stylee. ;)Quote:

On a slightloy different subject, I was quite impressed with how Gearbox did the Xen levels in Opposing Force though. They took note of how people hated that part of Half-Life and somehow made them good. Roll on Blue Shift.
