Dungeon Siege Opinions

So what does everyone think of the game so far. I personally love it, but hate it too. The Graphics and sounds are great. The Character ablity system is cool too. Im not too sure about the whole story, but thats ok. It takes a long time to get to a new town. Some of the things arent explained too well. There are too many battles of "a ton of weak monsters" I personally would like to see battles of "a few very powerful monsters" I do like the game, but I wont play it after something better comes along. :)

I really like this game, it's just plain fun. But the biggest problem I have is that the game gave me 20FPS average when I had a Radeon and I got a new Geforce 3 and it gives me 25FPS now. That just sucks, I mean all my other games gave me a huge performance increase but not Dungeon Siege!

Umm I don't get it.. I can play it fine with a GF2 GTS, notice *no* frame loss and you're complaining?

Also one thing I really don't like is how you can't manouver with the directional keys, but you have to click on the screen and it auto pathfinds. :(

Other than that, its great.. give me a bit, I'll post some screenshots with the GF2.

Forgot to mention I like the option of single player. ;)

I like it if I could ever get out of this friggin Dungeon{Second one}!!! Gameplay is fun but it at times is a very difficult game. Way better than Diablo or Baldurs gate. I would add it to the Classics list myself!!!

Thanks to someone prodding me with a sharp stick today :p I downloaded the demo.

My GF3 runs everything at max and I haven't noticed any stuttering at all even with big battles and 2 characters fighting along side of mine.

BUT Im not so thrilled by the game so far...it seems like a Darkstone with better graphics in the way it plays and the story unfolds.

I am going to buy this game...but I think I'll wait for it to drop in price first.

I just tried it out quick, and was bored within a matter of a few minutes. Maybe I've just played too much Diablo 2, but this game's just not my style. Ahh well, I suppose I should get to finishing JK2 :D

Yippieee. kicks d2 LoD and JK out of the cd slots and slips off to get his fingers on DS.. the learning curve is great.. unless you have slipped into coma ville of click die click die.....

I agree that this game is too much like 3d diablo but I like 3 things so far..

1. graphics and effects
2. single and multiplayer choices (with the choice not to connect to a server of 2500 people, so you don't get addicted)
3. no pay to keep playing, just the initial purchase
4. pause option unlike in MMORPGs

What I don't like about it so far:

1. Its 3d diablo
2. I don't like the aerial view only :(

Will I buy it.. I don't know as yet. I'm looking forward to Morrowind currently..

I personaly dont think this game is anything at all like diablo except you click on a monster to kill it...and Baldur's Gate has that too. I just finished the demo..its pretty cool more like Darkstone like I said before..but with WAAAY better graphics. I also dislike the view from above even Darkstone let you get down to the perspective of your character to fight. All in all a neat game but nothing groundbreaking or totally new. Excuse me while I go play F.A.K.K. 2...Julies Calling me :p.

Oh btw.. something interesting.. I can play this thing with a Riva TNT2 card 32MB. :eek: That thing only gives me around 600 3dmark 2001 points but I still get about 25 fps in 800 x 600. :p

I guess nVidia really does make good cards.. although I don't try to test backward compatibility too often, I'm still impressed. ;) Some of you might be happy to know that. :)

I have played a lot of this type of game, including Ultima Online, Everquest, DAOC, and Diablo. I was also a BIG fan of D2/LOD but finally burned out on it back in about December. I was EAGERLY awaiting Dungeon Siege, but have to say that I'm really disappointed. Its slow, mostly dull, and takes forever. Yes, the graphics are great, and there are some nice touches, but keeping track of and having to control and manage the whole party is just too much effort. Give me a single character anytime.
I may try the multi-player so I can avoid this, but every thread I have read says that its all screwed up, has horrible lag and is already overrun with cheaters.
Dont know what to look forward to now..........

(by the way, of the five friends who enjoy this type of game, and played everything I have listed, with me, four share my opinions and have more or less quit Dungeon Siege)

Highlander.. I hated 2500 players on one server logged in.. however with a limit of 8, it seems tempting.. but other than that, how do you like it?

I noticed you said laggy but are you on dialup?

I'm pretty much sick of MMORPG's, but I like single player RPGs or RPGS I can play with 1 or 2 people kinda like counterstrike etc.. how does DS react.

Lastly.. I've only played the demo yet, I'm thinking of getting it.. but I'm curious.. how many chapters are there actually in the game? And also.. do the monsters respawn or not? They didn't in the demo singleplayer, but did in the multiplayer.

Also I noticed a bug in multiplayer.. you had to start at the beginning each time but it saved other data. Is that happening in the actual retail version as well?

I bought it on friday, and being playing since then. I play multiplayer or rather single in multiplayer, and if not concerning the fps, I say that it is a neat game, and I quite like it. I would play this rather than lod. The game pace is slower and all, but hey,the map and world is beautiful. As for things i don't like is this. people going the mage way has spells, but up to now, my ranger is always clicking. In lod, u get multi or strafe, but here I have to click , a bit like diablo amazon but with only normal arrows. Anyone notice this or I am too low lvl? btw, lvl 6 cavalier online.;)

Well I noticed if you set the character up right it takes one click to get the battle started and then you can sit back and watch...Don't know if this is a good thing or not...I kinda like the round based combat from fallout. And I only like using the auto-combat systems when its boringly easy monsters that I have to fight.

Kinda like the auto-assign click as well. Recall trying to beat Diablo on Barron level with my level 32 paladin :(. Took over 30 minutes of clicking to kill him with my little dagger. Those that were with me sat back and laughed as I continued to stab freaking Big D with my zeal attack (9+ swings). It looked funny as all hell considering Diablo didn't even turn around and attack--I guess I wasn't even worth his effect. Heh.

This game is just plain OK nothing major. The fantasy world is generic, the plost is forgetable, the action is the same as diablo, but the graphics are great. I wasn't a big Diablo 2 fan but I think I like D2 better because of the items and skills you can get and even the quests in D2 seem more fun. Basically you set up your initial character and follow a path in the game that even has signs that say "go this way" until you complete the game. At first I really liked this game, but as I kept playing the more bored I became.
