my system reboots randomly every now and then. It did it twice over a period of 24 hours and is realllly annoying.........
does anyone know what can be the cause of this?
I have a 431 watt power supply so it should be able to handle my system.. (or should it?)

Check your temps...If they aren't the same as the ones in your sig.
temps are right on target, 46 degrees under load. . .

k, I will clock it back down to 1400mhz.

ok, it rebooted again, but this might be a driver problem. . .
(WinXP Pro) gave me the error message 'DRIVER_IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL' and rebooted. there was a bunch more text but it rebooted before I could write it down or read it all . . anyone know anything about this?
Ok, thats a pretty common error message. I kept getting those, thye are normally to do with video drivers, try uninstalling your card, removing all traces of the drivers and then reinstalling it.
You need to provide the stop code. The text is meaningless.
Search the MS Knowledgebase using the stopcode. You'll see causes and fixes/workarounds.
My friend was having that problem. He thought it was due to a bad BIOS flash. Come to find out that he had a bad stick of memory. He was also getting the same error message you are with those random, at no specific time, reboot problems.
I have also noticed these random reboots using generic memory and cheap pci modems.
after switching from pci modems to external type and using memory by crucial these random reboots have dissappeared.

I do have crappy generic memory.. I'll try giving it more voltage. I don't have a cheap pci modem (or any modem at all -- i use broadband).

The driver portcls.sys tried to read an invalid address, 0xDA150036 for the device on IRQL 2 from address 0xF74347F6. This error is typically caused by a virus scanner or a disk utility.
wow I wish I could understand all that gibberish. Unfortunately, I don't have any antivirus or disk utilities running (or installed) at this time. In fact, most of the time all I'm running is just Winamp and either IE, Half-Life, or Worldcraft. 2 programs. And I never had any problems whatsoever with those when I used Win98se. no problems at all.
anyways, I downloaded the newest via 4in1 drivers and all the other stuff and basically reinstalled all that motherboard stuff, and so far so good. I'll post another reply if it crashes again.
try reseating cables and ram sticks. somethingg might have just come loose.
I had that problem when i pushed my FSB too high. But that is just my experiences...

but before I did that, the stupid thing crashed on me again, showing that it's not a driver issue.

this error message is almost the same as the other, except that some addresses are a little different.
[edit] oh yeah, and my fsb is at 133, right where it should be. not overclocking it at all . . .

ok, update on my problem
I re-checked every single connection in the computer and when I turned it back on, it just gave me really long beeps. so I rotated all the memory around and jiggled the CPU (didn't feel like taking it out and putting it back in), then I took out and put back in all PCI and AGP stuff and also reconnected my hard drives. then it turned on again.
Also I gave my memory and I / O more voltage, hoping it will make it more stable.
but now whenever I play tfc, the computer just reboots without any error message at all. it doesn't do it when I'm just browsing around, which leads me to believe it might be my graphics card. although a Geforce 3 (original) shouldn't go bad that fast, should it? I bought it a few week after they came out. plus I got huge fans on the side of the computer blowing cold air on it, so it shouldn't overheat. . . and it's not overclocked at all. . .
