Help me build a SUPER COMPUTER!!

About a year ago I read this forum a lot and made this nice computer:

Enlight 7237
128mb pc100 ram
Two Maxtor 15gb 7200rpm hds
52x CD-ROM
2x2x4 Acer CD ReWriter
Gigabyte TNT2 M64 32mb
TV Tuner Card

That was when I was on a budget...

I have an online business that was making about $50~ a day, but since four days ago I have been making more $500 a day

OH BTW I am only 16 years old ;-)

Since my business depends on my computer I'm going to go all out and buy a top of the line computer. I was looking at the sharky high end guide.

I'm looking to spend $2000-3000 on a nice computer

I'm also looking for it to be SILENT - VERY LITTLE NOISE

My computer now seems very loud, it has a volcanoe 2 heatsink

I am leaning towards Intel since their CPUs are a bit cooler, and dont need as much cooling

I AM NOT OVERCLOCKING

I dont have air conditioning, so my room get hot.

I think if my parents don't get air conditoning soon I AM GOING TO BUY ONE FOR THEM LOL

I am looking for ANY recommendations from you guys!!!!!!!!!

Here are some things that interested me:

17" LCD Flat Screen - I have seen some $500-$700
I want a GOOD quality one so I'll spend $700~~ on it

Aluminum PC Case w/ 350W or higher PSU - $260 - maybe there is a better quiet case??

Processor: Pentium 4-2.26 GHz (533 MHz) - $250 - hmm I wonder how many flames I am gonna get for this lol

Cooling: I NEED A QUITE ONE Any recommendations?

Motherboard: ABIT BD7II-RAID - $133 Any recommendations?

Memory: 512-MB DDR400/PC3200 - $185 I don't know what memmory to get is this good?

Hard Drive: 2 X Maxtor D740X 80 GB FDB (Fluid Dynamic Bearing) - definately need this for backing my data up if my computer goes down im losing money

Video Card: MSI GeForce4 Ti 4600 - $315 ??? I need one that has input for a LCD screen DVI input???

Sound Card: SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum - $150 - ???

Speakers: Altec Lansing 641 or Logitech Z560 - $130 WHICH ONES???

CD/DVD-ROM: Toshiba SD-M1612 16X DVD-ROM - $38 $38???? is this really a good quite one??

CDRW: Plextor 40X12X40 CDRW Retail - $128 - is this quite???

Communications: Intel Pro/1000 T or - $83 - do I really need to spend $83 on a lan card?? is there any cheaper ones

US Robotics External v.92 - i think this is the best

Can anyone recommend a good ISDN Modem??? I CAN'T get DSL ISDN is the highest connection i think i can get

Mouse: Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer Optical 3.0 - $37 - I have one of these any other nice mouses out threre?

Keyboard: Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro - $34

Your rig looks good to me so far. I would consider a different cd burner such as a Lite On. Why aren't you going to OC? The CPU you want can OC up to or over 3 Gigs.

psu - you won't need one with the chieftec case, you should look into an antec, a true430 or true480

cooling, the stock hsf should be fine with a P4. if you want to spend some money you can get either a thermalright ax-7 or slk-800 with a 80mm fan (panaflo, sunon)

($400) video card - ati radeon 9700, when it comes avaiable

speakers - logitech z-560

communication - i don't think you have a 64-bit pci slot so you can't use it, and you mainboard has a on-board one anyways

cd-rw - if you want to save money, you can buy a lite-on 48/12/48 $100, plextor's quality is better although

isdn modem - personally i don't think its your modem, its probably your service provider

mouse - if you look on ebay, there is a mouse called razor boomslang 2000dpi

if you want a stable OS get win2k pro

you should look into OCing.

Total cost with EVERYTHING - Roughly 3.5 thousand dollars. *LCD screen takes 40% of da cost, HD's and SCSI RAID controller take da rest :p*

Go to Newegg's catalog, and spend the most you can on everything that's not server equipment (save the case). You keep on saying how filthy rich you are, so live it up a bit ;)

Congradulations on your business -- quite an achievement considering your age!

Given you're building a business system, not a gaming system, just get a high quality 19" shadow mask (better for 2D) CRT monitor and a good 2D vid card like the Matrox G450 or 550.

Still thinking business system, just get a Antec case and PSU. Based on model you'll get one or two case fans with it. If two, use on as an intake fan in the drive cage to keep your two HDs cool. The stock fans aren't the quietest fans so you might look at Panaflo, Sunon, or Vatec Stealths (keep the DBAs under 30 for quiet system).

The HSF that comes with the P4 is good enough. If you need a quieter fan see previous recommendation on fans.

Motherboard: ABIT BD7II-RAID - $133 Any recommendations?

Just get the BD7II, you don't want the hassle of RAID 0 for a business. Just use Norton Ghost to clone the drives for backup.

What you need is two computers... one for your business and the other for pleasure (gaming). ;)

It would help if you told us what kind of work this computer will be doing... graphics, or somekind server, etc...

Thanks for the recommendations guys, I have to stare at my computer screen all day, I have really been wanting a LCD I heard it was easier on the eyes, this 15" POS 5 year monitor that cost 79.95 is killing me eyes

I don't have much desk room and I have two laptops (300mhz and 133mhz LOL) on my desk too, that help me in my business so I need them. Im thinking upgrading em to a couple toshiba portege 2000's ;-)

Currently am runnig at the max rez - 1600x1200 at some crazy *me thinks 75 hz*. Awesome monitor! Crisp display, has a digi cable along with a regular analog cable. What can i say, best thing for the buck. *Oh yeah, and i got it for 1500 after an 800 dollar, um, discount i got off work :D*

if i was in your position i would get this dulie. the total comes to a little over 3,000 but i think it is worth it. if it is that bad you could get a less expensive vid card and monitor. you also need to get a idsn modem, i have no clue about these. Here it goes

That would give you a kick *** dulie. like I said above you could save some cash and get a lesser vid card and a normal monitor. The only thing i would change if I were you is I would spend the extra cash and get more mem.

Just wondering, but how exactly do you have 4GB of ram in in your system? You are using an ak-31, which I believe has 4 dimm slots. You also said you have micron ram, and micron doesn't evne make 1gb dimm modules. So how is that possible?

if you go pentium 4 definately go with the rambus with your budget. At stock speeds it will outperform ddr by a noticable ammount. If your goinng to oc go with ddr but science you dont want to do that go rambus. it is well worth the extra cash.

Does anyone know a place that has a better dead pixel policy than NEWEGG.com's 8? It would stink to spend $700 only to get 7 dead pixels :-(

ok thanks ill go with rambus, the extra power is not worth the risk of overclocking IMO

Congrats on your business fortunes :)

I just wanted to warn you from spending all your money at once. If you have bad luck you might go back to only making 50$ a day and then you would have wasted way to much money on a computer. Buy a computer that's not that expensive or wait a couple of weeks to see if you still make 500$ a day at that point, if you still make the same money you can blow all this money on a computer without having to worry.

This is just my opinion....

Well, what do you sell? What is your business? I mean you have a lot of potential customers around here. I've never met someone so protective of a business. LoL. We aren't looking for the 'secret' to the business, more or less just what you do/sell/provide.

Well, your system looks pretty good, but with your budget and with the request of "top of the line" ditch the 4600 and get the 9700...it has the DVI output and mops the floor with the 4600 for less than a hundred bucks more.
