Does anyone here still play this game? I love it... I'm learning the RED Editor now and I'm looking for good tutorials.
I've read everything at Seer and Distorted Productions, but I can't find much else out there. If you have any red faction related links, especially tut's for RED please let me know :D

I played the game it was pretty good cant wait for the second one.
I played the demo...multiplayer was incredible...a shame that it didn't take off...I would've liked to see a cs type game where the grenades do damage against the walls and bullets leave actual holes in the walls instead of a cheesy decal...the second one looks nice...but so far it's only planned for ps2...I hope they port it (and a good port to) to the pc...

I didn't realize that it was only for PS2, I guess I just assumed it would be for PC... man you just ruined my day!!!! ;)
And thanks for the links Raven I read the Distorted Productions one but I don't think I saw the first link. There aren't many out there. Oh well if RF2 doesn't happen for PC I'll just have to get moving on the map-making.. there's already a TON out there too; microfaction 6 just came out wrecks did an AWESOME job..

The enviromental distruction was VERY overrated IMO. It will be better in later games from now but the technology is not up to par as of now. You can only blow up certain walls and structures, especially in multiplayer.
But still a very cool improvement and more advanced games should use this technology but just an improved version.
I think it has a ton of lasting appeal. The geo mods make the game a million times better, and I'd say they are done very well. Especially considering no other games can even do them. The only restrictions to moddable terrain are imposed by the level maker. You can pretty much blow everything up, except for a few objects, like desks, etc. If there is a wall or floor you can't nuke it's because the level designer made it that way, not because the game couldn't do it.
I'd like to see some new games implement geo regions like RF did, but for now I'm happy playing all the levels available for RF and making my own :)

Wow, I was a little surprised to see this thread pop back up! I still play once in a while, my clan pretty much gave up on RF months and months ago. Kinda ruined my desire to keep making maps, and on top of that I was an idiot and thought I had them all backed up on my last reinstall... well, I didn't. :(
Now it's mostly BF for me. Last time I hopped on RF was prob a month ago and it felt like it was running in hyper speed :eek:
Now that I'm thinking about it again I'm starting to get the itch though... I think I know what I'll be doing on Sunday :D

So Colossus, how is RF2? I heard it wasn't very good as it was a simple port from the ps2. I liked the first one though, and still play it occasionally.
So, there is NO multiplayer in RF2 PC, right? I saw the single player game and it looked kind of fun, but RF was all about MP for me. It was a big letdown to hear RF2 wouldn't even have it... I was planning on being a huge RF2 fan :(
I like the game... I am not sure how many people really liked it but it is not as much fun as the first one...
Also the game doesnt have MP support, so that really sucks.
I loved Red Faction 1, played it so many times that towards the end I was playing as a secret Mining Company spy. In other words, I did the missions, but every chance I could (and not blow the mission), I was shooting Red Faction members.

There are tons of single player levels made by the community, so there is still a lot of action I haven't tasted. Not to mention the thousands of MP levels.
