Sorry if this's been discussed. Just went to guru3d and realized 40.72 is WHQL already. It's buggy... Any comments?

What bugs would that be? I've been using them for about 3 weeks now with no problems.
What bugs you say!!!!!!. Ummm how about the damn thing not letting me set up TV out. Not a problem before. Device settings button not working also. Its a buggy little bugger, lol.
For me, the quick load function froze my computer. Went back to 29.42 and problem gone.Quote:

i've been running the 40.72's for a while now, they're by far the best drivers i've used so far...no bugs here
i had a bug with the 40.72's, i couldn't even finish 3dmark....the 40.52's are working fine...
the 40.72's are working great for me also. highest 3dmark yet (see sig)
The 40.72's worked fine for me!;)
According to NVidia, the company has not yet released a WHQL-certified version of any of the 4x.xx Detonators. I've been to NVidia's site, and found that they've buried all of the 40.xx Detonators in their driver archive. (Which means that NVidia still has a lot of bugs to work out of their 4x.xx Detonators.)
The latest official WHQL-certified Detonator driver remains the 30.82 version.
i've had bugs in the nightfire demo and the LOTR demo...Quote:

I guess, I'll have to slam these and the *ulp* 8.2 Beta DX into my rig for testing in Win98SE.
That's right.Quote:

I was having lots of problem in games with the Detonator 40's :( Atleast in newer games anyway. Although I had an increase in FPS. I couldnt run all my games :( NFS:HP2 wouldn't load period, and Hitman2 would give me BSOD's randomly. Now that I'm using the 30.82's though everything is fine. I'm not going to DL anymore beta Det 40's, I'll wait until the ACTUAL WHQL are posted on nVidia's site before diving into them again.
The det 40.41's for me, were great, but image quality was nothing to the 41.03 (I think that's what it is [on my win 2k pro partition, so I can't tell you right now]) Also, the 41 drivers gave me a boost in games and in 3dmark.
The 8.2 isn't beta, it's official now.Quote:

It is official though ;)
I only noticed it today. The 40.72 is now an official WHQL-certified release. I had the beta 40.72's before, which had rendering issues with many of my games. I haven't installed the 40.72 WHQL's yet.
Very true. Why wouldn't they have the 40.72 as the main driver?
BTW, it's here.
I just tried the 40.72 WHQL Dets. Same problem with the Train Sim "blank pale blue sky in cockpit view" and "black ground surrounding train in external view" syndromes as the beta 40.72's. So it's back to the previous 30.82 WHQL's for me.
Wrong!Quote:

"Windows XP/2000
Version: 40.72
Release Date: November 8, 2002
WHQL Certified"

;)
Note the date that I posted that quote of mine that you replied "Wrong!" The latest WHQL's on NVidia's site were the 30.82's at the time that I made that post. In fact, I didn't notice that the new 40.72's were certified until I saw them posted on NVidia's Web site yesterday.Quote:

Same here. Just loaded these new WHQL drivers today on my other rig. I hope they'll be a nice upgrade from the 30.82's, which were really good already IMO...Quote:

I am downloading the 40.72 WHQL Certified from www.nvidia.com now. I will let you know how it works out and if I see any difference. I dont think there will be but I rather have a certified driver then none.
to all the people who have problems with their TV out on their cards with Nvidia drivers. As far as I know thats normal. Only the drivers provided by the GC Manufacturer are really going to work with all the vivo functions
