Not to start any fights but is there a top performing gaming system right now and if so who can put out the specs?
Here or just one in general ??
Fastest\latest of these:
P4
RDRAM at 512MB
Radeon 9700 Pro
Mobo that support the newer RDRAM and HT
Look at the top scorers on 3dmark's web page. That will probably be your best bet. Last I saw some guy had ~27k with liquid nitrogen cooled p4 and a dry ice cooled radeon 9700 pro. wow.
But that wasn't at default was it? Those are usually run at lower res. Still that is amazing, although quite temporary. Um, i would say the best would be a 3.06 p4 with rdram and a 9700 pro. Not sure you can really beat that but it will cost an arm and a leg (maybe a second arm too ;)). For much less you can get a 2.53 with ddr and a 9500 pro and still have a pretty sweet system that will not lag too far behind that other one, except for the lack of HT. A little ocing and you would be right in the running.
Yeah i'm not talkin with exotic cooling I'm just wondering with standard not necessarily stock hsf's. So far its agreed the p4 3.06 rdram radeon 9700pro is the fastest you can get.

C'mon dude ! Is that hard to figure this out now? Boy...
Vatko
Did I ask for a smart A$$ response?? NO. If you can't intelligently respond in a thread then don't respond in it at all. Nice way to join sharky, hope your next 10 posts get better.;)Quote:

Another fast system would be
2800XP overclocked with a 9700 Pro..
2.4Ghz Athlon + 9700Pro = FAAAAAAST
Guys, it is agreed then the;
3.06ghz
RDRAM 512
9700 PRO
is the fastest. What motherboard? The P4T533 (32bit) the P4T533c (16bit), what other motherboard would fit here.
Also, staying in the Pentium line. What would make up the fastest (single CPU) 3.06ghz, DDR system as to what ram and motherboard?
Xaser
Thats what I was mainly wondering. If the fastest athlon machine is as fast as the fastest pentium machine. Disregarding price. And which combination of each would be fastest.Quote:

change RDRAM to DDR and the equation changes to the Athlon XP 2800+. In the future if Barton is released with a 400mhz FSB you'd see the nforce2 mobo take even more advantage of the memory that you originally gave it (assuming it was DDR 400mhz or faster) while the P4 would still be stuck at 333mhz. (This is taking intoconsideration stock speeds)Quote:

Change the P4 DDR to a GB DCDDR MB and then what happens old wise fortune teller.....if and when, if and when.....Quote:

Overclocked Xp 24800 with a Geforce FX *drool*
I'd be pleasing you with an answer, oh young grasshopper.Quote:

Asus P4G8X (or P4SDX, which'll be released soon)
2*256MB sticks of Mushkin pc3200 (from mushkin directly)
Hercules Radeon 9700 Pro
Doesn't get much better than that.
As for cooling, if you're talking about strictly air, either a Swiftech MCX4000 or Alpha PAL8942T with a Vantec Tornado 80mm.
...thinking about spending some money on something aside from audio, 1ctabor? :p
Yep;) By the time i'm done I should have three pretty high performing systems.Quote:

Pretty nice, you should pick up an A2 while you're at it. It'd be a worth-while upgrade from your current.Quote:

Another thing to take into consideration is wether the games will be more AI intensive or more graphics intensive for example battle 1942 with its great and complex AI would fair alittle better on the 2800+ but a game that is more graphics intense woudl fair alittle better on the 3.06. Games aside the 3.06 will pull aways ahead though due to the addition of HT which would beter suit someone who plans to run Kazaa in the background while listening to music and playing ut2k3. As far as ddr and rdr are concerned i would say go ddr because the performance istn that big of an issue between the 2 anymore with the advent of DCDDR and the price is going to be abotu the same but the current trend is showing that a ddr system will be a better upgrade path in the future now that most p4 systems are being built with ddr. And ddr2 will becoming one of these days along with true pc 4200 and so on. As far as graphics cards go latley the Athlon paired with the radeons seem to be performing bettet than the P4 paried with the radeons while the P4s seem to perform better with Nvidia than the athlons do. THG labs did a huge comparison chart not to long ago showing this.
As far as price performance ratio i think your best bet gaming wise is the 2800+ as far as pur performance the 3.06 would be a great addition. And if you plan to overclock the p4 would be alittle better route.
Yeah i will definately be going the route of an A2 i'm just trying to decide on my mobo and cpu, everything else is taken care of. I even just got a 21" sony trinitron:)Quote:

I believe if you took a XP2800+ with an Nforce 2 board paired with a 9700 Pro, it will perform 3dmark wise... on the same level as the 3.06ghz P4 w/ similar setup.
RDram is basically dead, so I don't think the agrument for it will last much longer.
Well if money is no object I think these two machines are pretty damn fast and should be able to play the linux version of quake 3 at some wicked speeds when they are upgraded all the way:
Sun Fire 15k
or
SGI Origin 3000
Ok, maybe that's a tad absurd, but that sun fire 15k would probably be the best $1.4 million you'll ever make in computing ability! well, that's just the base price...
:D
Looking good, I'm waiting for SiS 655's until I make my next big upgrade. :)Quote:

A2's definitely worth it though. The bass is so much cleaner and tighter than my other.
I just picked hooked up my 17" Trinitron last night (G200) and it's VERY nice. Good luck with your new rig, if you need any help, I'm here, buddy. :)
Please.... And its truly amazing how the fastest setup you can buy is dead...LOL. Wow the computer industry is moving so fast now...even the most leet stuff is obsolete ROFLMAO....Guess that 3.06 is dead since the prescott is on the way...Hell that xp 2800 is pretty much dead also since the barton is somewhere around the corner. Hell thatll be dead to since the hammer is coming... OMG...I cant keep up...:eek:Quote:

I'm mainly just trying to get back in the swing of things with knowing whats what about CPU's and new memory. I won't be finishing my "super" computer for about 2 months, i have all the other parts to it already that aren't gonna change much until I get my tax return like case, monitor, drives, cables etc. Anything that can drop in price or come out new in 2 months i'm holding off buying like cpu, mobo, vid card. But meanwhile i'll be building up another xp1800+ system which I can do pretty cheap beings all the extra parts I already have. It'll be fun. And i'll definately look you up for any help I may need.Quote:
