What is the speed for pc2100 ram? I just got my a7n8x mobo with a xp1800 tbred. I'm just trying to get an idea what its capable of.

266mhz. So it will be fine for the 1800+ tbred. That's a nice mobo you got there.:)Quote:

who makes it? If your are wondering, My cheap PNY PC2100 with 8ns chips can hit a 155FSB with max timmings with just 2.8volts. That will give you a healthy boost in overall preformace.
Crucial
Actually , it runs at 133MHz ( or we say 266MHz data rate ) at default.Quote:

Crucial Micron Cl 2,5 PC2100 can hit 160MHz CL2 at 2.7V DDR voltage .
tested by running Quake3 Demo normal 3 times and torture test in Prime 95 , 10 iterations.
I don't know about that.Quote:

I have 2 sticks of crucial PC2100 ram. If I set it at 166fsb with slow memory timings... i can run a game for maybe five minutes and then I get a weird error message about having problems reading/writing to some memory address. I backed it off to 150 with aggressive timings (5-2-2-2.5) and now I get the error message rarely although it still happens.
When it was set to 166fsb, it was able to pass the memory burn-in test in SiSoft Sandra (as well as memtest) however when it got to the file system test where it fills up all of the system ram, it gave me that same error message about having problems reading/writing to some memory address.
I know it is possible I just got 1 or 2 sticks of ram that don't overclock well, but I would strongly suggest that anyone with PC2100 from crucial try the file system test in SiSoft Sandra and see if they don't have the same problem.
i have two sticks of crucial PC2100 running at 166fsb in turbo mode. if anything, the stability only increased after i added the second stick. this stuff will hit 180fsb no problem (until prime95, that is :D ). everything else runs fine, though, including sandra -- i can run that file system test no prob at 166fsb even with windows media player streaming internet audio in the background. maybe there are variances between individual sticks, or you got a bad stick, Paladyr. all i can say is great ram.
It must be my sticks then. Is it at default voltage?Quote:

2.7v w/the 2 sticks. with one stick, i needed 2.9.
I thought 2.85 was the highest you should go without damaging the RAM?Quote:

I'm gonna have to try them individually because I have a 3rd I can use.
apparently not with Crucial. :DQuote:

Well it might be... you just don't know it yet :(.Quote:

The RAM is rated to run at 133MHz. If you go above that, it is o/c and your results may vary!

I have 2 x 256MB of generic PC2700 with Samsung chips. However, with a 146MHz FSB, my RAM has no problems with agressive timings, because it is "underclocked" right now.Quote:

Yea with Crucial you shuld be able to hit at least 166 I would think. The more VDIMM you pump in the higher she will go. Also depending on what your temps are you should be alright at 2.85 VDIMM. You might damage it, but its the same with all OC'ing. There is always a chance of damaging a product if it is being run out of spec. However, from the cases I have seen people can put 2.85volts through it and run fine for an extended amount of time. It is good quality RAM, so I think you should be alright :)
Just in case you guys didn't see my thread in techinical support, i did some research and found that the errors I am getting are most likely a software/driver issue rather than memory running out of spec. I did a "sysprep" instead of install the os fresh and all of the people reporting this error solved it by reinstalling the OS or eliminating the driver causing the problem. I have a feeling since I can boot up fine at 166fsb, that the ram can handle that speed.Quote:

Still not stable past 147, piece of crap crucial ram :-P.Quote:

Ive seen some of the older crucial chips run in the 180-190 fsb range. My systems ram will boot on past 175 with no extra voltage sense i can only get my processor to 175 that may be my rams limit or it could be my processor or even my boards. Also correct me if im wrong but isnt the highest 1600+ overclock on this site using crucail ddr pc2100. Another thing ive noticed is whne more cooling is placed aroudn the ram ie a side fan or a top blow whole the crucial benifits alot. Overall i think i have alittle bit of a bias towards crucial becuase of how awsome this ram i have now has been right from the start. I got frre shiping and only 39 doolars a stick and ive seen this stuff do 182fsb in a friends system that was using pc2700 that could barely make 175. Overall it is great stuff but if you think you are likely to go above 170 then i would recomend some real overclocking ram like some corsair or micron.
Well, mines been running at 160fsb all day now. Played tiger woods 2003 did some sandra benchmarks, counterstrike, desert siege.
I'm running 3 256 sticks of crucial and I keep the fsb at 150 with turbo settings. I havn't tried to go past 150 yet, but maybe tonight I'll give it a try.
Well I got both of my sticks for 32 bucks. I think I have some of the earliest PC2100 sticks from crucial so mine are probably just crappy. I read the reviews over at newegg and as you go on earlier into 2002, you will see not as many people reporting such high fsb. A lot of them are in the 150 range. I did find out that with 1 of my sticks I can at least boot up into windows at 166 while with only the other in, my PC just reboots.
So all in all, it depends on WHEN you bought your crucial PC2100 ram :).
