hey howcome richardginn didnt post it???Quote:
I rely on him for latest news :D
Wow, an inquirer article that didn't have a reference to celebrities having alien babies. AMAZING
The Enquirer and Inquirer are two different mags, although they both have a reputation for some outlandish stories! One runs stories about Lisa Marie Presley's alien babies and the other might report that Intel and Microsoft are conspiring to build the spaceship to send them home. ;)
I read this some place else on here
Short and simple is that its not going to happen.
Disallowing Firewalls en totale would be too dangerous for security purposes, disallowing personal Firewalls would start a Civil Rights Battle that would make some members of Supreme Court consider retirement.
True. Not to mention that a supreme court case getting amicus briefs from every major corporation in the US would be a...headache to say the least.Quote:

Actually, what that bill would do is effect public proxy servers the most I would think. People that use those to surf anonymously would be in violation it looks like.
On a side note: It's another stupid bill made by a another politician that doesn't have one IQ point in technology.

Lol...then your zone-alarm would become an illegal piece of software as it stealths your computer's IP and ports...yeah. The fact is that 99% of all bills do not get passed, it's the way the government is setup. Heck, most of them don't even get time on the floor.
Yeah, just something stupid that will never happen like taxing stuff bought over the net... oh wait... unless you live in CA... :(
Stupid government. Stupid Gray Davis.
That's not just a California issue. A lot of states are looking at taxing online sales.Quote:

If you want to talk about "stupid", let's talk about the long-term electricity contracts the state entered into during the energy crisis. And it gets even dumber -- the state was going to try to charge "exit fees" to organizations that installed solar panels, effectively penalizing them for generating solar power! (Thankfully, the California Public Utilities Commission shot down that idea, but only by a very close 3-2 decision.)
But look on the bright side... Gray Davis can't possibly be worse than xenophobic Pete Wilson was. And what's the alternative in the next gubernatorial election -- possibly Arnold Schwarzenegger?! When I get frustrated with state politics here in NY (which happens quite often), I just look back to when I lived in California and remember it could be worse. ;)
There is a national movement by the states to streamline/standardize sales tax process by reducing the numbers of tax categories and exceptions. With a simplified structure every state will collect sales/use taxes for other states. If you wish to avoid sales taxes, move to Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire or Oregon.
Are you serious? You think Gray Davis is doing and has done a better job than Pete Wilson? :confused:Quote:

Oh right you don't live here anymore. We've been trying to get a million signatures to throw the guy out. He's killed our economy and just plans on spending even more money.
Oh trust me, Gray is WAY worse then Pete.Quote:

Like comparing MOAB to a 100 megaton Nuke.
He is doing stuff, that makes me regret the day he ever took office (luckily though I dont think I voted for him).
You don't remember if you voted for him, lol. :pQuote:

I know I didn't.
Let's get back on topic folks.
umm... yar... anyway, I wouldn't want to be the one handling the backlash for writing that bill. That guy would get quite a few e-mails.Quote:

Alaska has local sales taxes up to 7% depending upon where you are in Alaska.
Only in parts of Alaska (Neither Anchorage nor Fairbanks levies a retail sales tax). and the max is 6% according to this website: http://www.move2alaska.com/taxes_in_alaska/default.aspQuote:
