Something tells me I need to overclock my video card! :D
Well, I think the score sucks... but games run fast as phuck!
Cpu was at 2.53ghz (Athlon XP that is), and the vid card was butt-stock.

Excellent job lostlilchild6!!! :) Have you checked out my 3dmark guide(link in my sig)? It may contain some tweaks/tips that you might have passed up.
Have you tried OC'ing the VGA yet? How high does it go with stock cooling?
Also, would it be alright if I added you to the 3dmark database? I already have you in there in the CPU OC section though no 3dmark scores.
Thats not a bad score at all with your VGA bone stock. With some OCing and tweaking you can definitely get it up there.
Just to throw another tip out there. I haven't done any extensive testing on this but I do it, and many others claim it nets you like 50 points.
After you start 3D Mark, hit ctrl-alt-del and go into task manager. Go to your services and find 3D Mark and set the priority to "Real Time".
I can't be 100% sure it does anything cause I haven't done a comparison. But it's easy to do and makes sense, therefore I always do it.:)
I too set the Priority to "Real Time" while benchmarking. I gained around ~35 points.

Sure... I'd love to be in the database! :)
Thanks for the advice guys... Ill go and try that out right now... along with overclocking it to see how much higher I can get! :D.
If your games are running great, then why do you care what your 3d mark score is? Bleh. Just be happy with your performance. That score seems good enough.
Heh... broke 16k by simply upping the GPU to 350mhz, and the memory to 330mhz.... hehehehe :)

I remember the day when overclocks on the video cards themselves weren't THIS dramatic :).
Dude, you have to be a 3dmarkoholic to understand. :)Quote:

Excellent score man. Your score will be added in the Top 10. Now see if you can take over #7 shurleydude. :)Quote:

What a lot of people don't understand is that 3D Mark "IS" just like a game to those of us that run it all the time.
What do you do in a regular video game?
1. Learn how to play it.
2. Play it and practice it.
3. Try to get a higher score.
4. Look for tips on how to get a higher score (or further in the game)
5. Compete with other
6. Most impotantly have fun!!
3D Mark
1. Learn how to run it properly
2. Practice running it and tweaking your system
3. Try to get a higher score
4. Look for tips on how to get a higher score
5. Compete with others
6. Most importantly have fun!!
It's just like a game for us. It's everything combined, puzzle solving, nail biting, suspense, competition, and FUN!!!
To each his own, to me, it's just another game.:)
I would have to agree that tweaking for highest 3DMarks is a lot of fun... It would also burn a very big hole in the pocket if you want to be top dog.. But it is worth it..
I like it when I see the Dragon Low Res hit 400fps.. It looks very nice.. Now if only I can get nature to hit 250fps.. WOW!!!!

yup thats me. I know the higher my 3dmark, the faster *all* my games will run ;) I also benchmark quake3 tons, Im hoping to break 300fps!
is that 300fps at 3200x2400 or 2000xwhatever or 640x480 :PQuote:

no kidding, I spent $40 on an xp1700 just to gain ~900 marks! im thinking of selling my old mobo and getting a new one, cause the new mobo has better drivers, better ram management and timings and of course higher fsbs. Should get me ~2000 more marks :D
Your complaining about $40?????
I wish I can spend only $40 :)
My GPU cooler was almost double that price!
LOL...I blew $400 for only 1100 marks. $40 aint squat. I'd love to get 900 marks for only $40. Sign me up.Quote:

Yeah me too.. It would put me in the #2 spot on the Sharky extreme 3DMarks :) :D
I am hoping my $78 Pelt/Water cooled GPU cooler will yeild over 1000 points for me :) I need to get above 380/330!!!!
I'm thinking I just blew $300 for a Vapo PE that will only give me a 5 mhz FSB increase. I seriously believe this chip is close, very close to its limits. We'll see how the Vapo works on these newer 800mhz chips. :)
thanks for not flaming me ;) and yes you get diminishing returns. I am already facing that. going from 550 to 1200 marks cost me a $50 geforce2mx. then another $80 for a ti500 to get 3200. then another $150 for a new mobo and ram to get 6800. a ti4200 got me another 1100 but its $100! then a $18 cpu to go to 9400 marks, yet another major increase. Im running outta options here, heh but Ill be happy with whatever gains I get anyway. going from low end to midrange stuff is cheap, but ocing top dog stuff isnt. as for the peltier, why not get one for your cpu too?
Dude, if you can get that 9700Pro higher you will get 1K. Don't know how good your card is, but you should be able to get a sweet score especially with the new mobo. :)Quote:

If he can oc that cpu more by going water, he can exceed 4GHz easy and get several more thousand marks. his centerwood mobo is what he needs and ordered accrodially.
I am exspecting more then 1K when my pelt gpu cooler comes in... I am shooting for 1.5K on video overclock alone and maybe an extra 750 for the Canterwood :)Quote:

But all that is a guess... Maybe even 2K for the gpu overclock if I can get to 450 from 380 :)
I highly doubt a core oc will give you more than a couple hundred, I got 700 more marks and I oced both the core and ram by ALOT! 250/445 to 280/520! the ram helped alot more than the core too. I would try the watercooler on the cpu first, but whatever makes you happy
I get about 1200 points alone going from stock to 380mhz on the core.. So overclocking the core does help a lot!!! So if I can get it to 480 I can achieve another 1200 points if the scoring is linear... But since I never achieve that high on the core before I am not sure.. So with that said I am done!
