Also a little surprise on what hardware we'll see this game running at E3 and likely where these shots come from

ATI scored doom 3 and now half life2
Kudos ATI :)
OMG!!!!! :D This game is lookin very good. I don't this game will dissapoint. And might even trump Doom3. Kudos to valve for keeping it under tight raps. And my Recent 199$ 9500pro is looking better and better each day:)
Heh, Dell's XPS :)
Dell is doing some excellent marketing.
HL2 Eye candy comes in all sorts of flavors and colors  . Great Screens. Thanks for them. My new System will be well worth it.
Mmmmmm.... pixel shaders=sexy

But I guess that won't be a problem since I don't have pixel shaders...
Those screenies are beautiful!
mmmmm...one thing though...I hope it doesn't turn into an unreal 2 where's it's all graphics and crappy gameplay...
Is it just me or does it look like there is a guy painted on the wall...

And are those big monstors supposed to be the little guys from HL that would jump for your head... If so there WAY bigger then in the first one.
If they value their lives they wont. HL has a big enough following to destroy the devs if the game sucks :D Wow...beautiful. I REALLY like the gas mask! :pQuote:

nolekid, that "head" is a wall light..
I think its some kind of sensor, since if you look down the wall there are more of them. And i am guessing that is the big bad evolution of the head crab? :DQuote:

Excuse me, while I go change into a new pair of paints, becuase I just wet myself.
One more reason I'm building a new pc
Man to be honest this doesnt do much for me,at this point ill wait until i can get my hands on some hi res screenies because there are a couple of problems with those pics, i hate to say it but at this point i believe doom3 looks better....
These look really good. I love that street one with the guys wearing the gasmasks. I'd like to see some new ones though, actual screenshots, and maybe a video from E3. Yes. That's what I want. :)
However, as good as it looks, none of these have challenged my Doom 3 chainsaw zombie wallpaper yet.
/me goes back to staring at his wallpaper. :D
Well even buffer screengrabs wont put half life 2 above doom3 technically, what half life 2 has going for it are the high res textures (much more than doom3), the kickass valve modellers and artists, but when it comes to dynamic lighting and shadows, polybump, per-pixel lighting, bump mapped surfaces, it doesnt approach doom3 (heck, it doesnt do any of the above so..)
I prefer half life 2 visuals over doom3 though, but thats for an art reason.
I dont think you guys with 2000+ mhz cpus, 512MB onboard memory and 9700 or better video cards even have to worry one bit about half life 2.
Cant wait to see it in motion at E3 :D
Considering that none of us know the tech specs of the engine arent you being a little presumptuous buggy?
No :)
You can analyze pretty much the majority of a graphic engine based on screenshots, beyond3d's tech heads have already done so for many games, beside the PC GAMER mag, or the devs (i dont really remember) said in the article that a geforce4 could pull off these at around 70fps :)
