9800p @ 480/400 with ghetto aircooling! (pics enclosed!)

Hey all, just wanted to announce that I've hit 480/400 using... *drumroll* ICE SCRAPER cooling! Yes, that's right - I used my ice scraper (which is essentially just a hunk of metal), strapped it onto my Radeon (9800 Pro) with regular sheated wire, and wouldn't you know it - I went from 456/400 with stock cooling to 480/400 (and I still don't have much in the way of artifacts). Talk about ghetto cooling; Giant II users, eat your heart out!

Vertices, I WILL have the fastest Nature score on Sharky's... :p 3dmark coming soon!

Btw - more replies, ideas, etc, would be appreciated!

I can't believe that is actually sitting on the core, lol. Dude that is ghetto beyond belief, and trust me I know ghetto. I live in the area surrounding the ghetto during school and that would fit right in.

Maybe so, but I've got a warranty like no other - fully transferrable, 3 year, over-the-counter, no questions asked, if-we-don't-have-your-model-we'll-give-you-the-next-one-up warranty. In other words, if this one gets fried, I just bring it back for another one. If that one gets fried, and the 9900 Pro has just come out... I get a 9900 Pro. Pretty sweet deal huh?! :D

Good guess (you're right). :) Now that my secret's out, I might as well disclose the details - for 10% extra, this warranty can be yours. Just bring it back and they'll give you a new one, and they'll even transfer the warranty to the replacement. :) Best $50 I EVER spent!

As for the 80mm->120mm adapter, you can find it at www.1coolpc.com (as well as other places).

Well, it works, and it's better than stock cooling! :D One thing I noticed, though - it covers 1 or 2 memory chips (the ones above the core), so I'll be putting some ASIII on those; maybe I can push this memory even further!

As for nature... I AM close. At 155.2fps, I'm exactly 3fps behind you. :eek: You being at 158.2fps, and lostlilchild6 (on his 21049 rig) at 146.5, I'd say I'm pretty damn close. Like I said, with this new ghetto cooling, I WILL overtake you. :D I vow it!

I've been wondering since the beginning, but what exactly is an Ice Scaper..:confused: Cause if you mean something to scrape ice of the car windows... mine doesn't look anything like that?

:D Remember that since that score I have added ramsinks and a slight increase to mem voltage. I can't clock my memory as high as you can but I think you're gonna have trouble beating a NEW nature score from me with the card clocked at 520/385-390. :D All the best to you though!:)

Well, you're right - last night I showed my setup to my dad, and he informed me that it wasn't an ice scraper, but rather a ski sharpener. I stand corrected. :)

Oh No!... you didn't happen to catch this weeks episode of Street Cents did you XDuckX??? Some kid got that "No Questions Asked" Warrenty from them and then when his MD Player broke he tried to return it and they wouldn't take it. So Street Cents sent in an undercover person and although when selling things they stressed that there would be no problem returning it, in all the cases they weren't able to return it no questions asked and in most cases couldn't return it at all! Hopefully this doesn't happen to you but in my experience Futureshop are the biggest pr*cks when it comes to anything from mail in rebates to returns so I wouldn't trust their claims.
