remember the thread about the old 64mb, 64 bit fx5200 I had which the mx440 eats it? This time mines 128mb and 128 bits and its nearly as fast as a stock ti200 which arent bad at all! one problem however, it is still clock locked! man I hate it when they decide to lock it, so any idea what to do? I also know the radeon9500s were clock locked but some guy figured a bios hack fixed the lock. some radeon9000/9200 and 9700s were also locked. do I need to flash the bios or what?

ok guys, relax! the first fx5200 I got was 64mb and 64 bit, this one is 128mb and 128 bits, the 64 bit one got me 5100 marks, I get 8600 now, granted my cpu is faster and I have mipmap to performance, but point being is nature is over 40fps instead of 19 :eek: honestly this one is much better, I would get about 8800 on a stock ti200. I just need to find a way to unlock that fx5200 I got *cheap* and oc it good and ill try for 10k marks

the fx5200 is slower, its a 4x1 core, remember? I still want to get like 55fps on her but does anyone know of a way to oc her?
sorry but I ask this question...why on earth would you buy a card that was slower than your previous cards?
its just a bit slower than a ti200 and trust me, for the special price I got that fx5200, I am happy. I also want to see what dx9 looks like, even if its slow. I collect cards as well and want the best score for each. now lets get serious, does anyone here ever got an fx5200 to overclock, was it locked or not and does anyone know where to get a bios flash to unlock my card? thank you so much :cool:
What brand was the old fx and the newer one with 128bit memory?
Or do all 128mb fx 5200's use 128bit ram?
Some 3dMark 2003 scores would be nice. U are posting 3d Mark 2001 marks I believe.

Hmm, after reading a lot aroudn i haven´t found anything ´bout the FX5200´s being clocklocked, BUT i have found out that they do not seem to support low lvl overclocking, in other words, the only way to do it is by using coolbits.... i know that it is not the kind of answer that you could expect, but i hope it helps you out man :)

bingo! my old fx5200 was inno3d I think, this one is evga. Are those the only cards that dont support low level overclocking? I heard of that somewhere, other people said they could not move the ocing sliders with powerstrip nor rivatuner. Yes ive heard of coolbits, people used that back in the tnt days but now everyone uses powerstrip or rivatuner. So anyone know how to hack my registry to enable coolbits, it involves changing some registry keys then the coolbit tab should appear somewhere in the drivers with sliders to oc core/ram :eek: if anyone has a clue and can help me out ill be thankful. I already will try that on my backup hdd that way if I mess it up I can do a reinstall and keep my main hdd reg intact. I installed the drivers too on my backup hdd just in case :D
Just goto www.guru3d.com and visit their downloads section. The Coolbits registry file is in there. Get it and import it into your registry.
One question, what's the point? When do you play games if you're switiching obsolete cards in and out all the time?
i have to say: i cant believe that after the trashing you gave your other card that youd buy another, but oh well to each their own(level of sanity that is)..
the asus that i got some time ago was 80$ shipped(retail) and it came w/ a buttload of software.. some of which was a GUI for adjusting the clockcycles.
i havent used it yet, the card has no active cooling nor ramsinks..
id definitely invest some time and $ before i ever tried.

mine gets about 580+ marks in 2K3 and around 5800+ marks in 2k1 w/out any tweaking(250/330), which like you said compares to a Ti200 in overall speed for the test...
in some tests(other than 3dmark) it does as well as a ti4200 in others as slow as a ti200.. it has dx9 features(albeit mostly useless at that speed, but then so are most others at this time)..
some ask: why buy one? one would ask the same of anyone who bought an MX card or a 7500.. but they did and still do.. ;)
its cheap$ and itll run any game on the shelf with little effort..

lol.. uhh thats a special prototype card that was sent out to myself and NASA... it uh... is an NV500 GPU that offloads the cpu 100%..
heh, heh.. whoops... actually its a remnant of the card that was written there before..(now just under it in the sig).. i usually dont post a sig unless it pertains to the topic in some way, so i dont usually see it unless ive changed hardware and go edit it....
