Where's kirkyg??? I stand corrected... The 2500 IS the next perfect o.c.ing processor....

I wish I had about 2 volts to pump into this baby...:(

i agree, the 2500+ is the best chip i've ever owned. nice OC, btw. :D
What's your VCore at right now? While I would have gone as high as 2.0V on the 180nm chips, I'm a bit leary of that much juice on the 130nm cores...unless you are running some pretty hard core cooling.
which is faster?
your 2.4ghz barton or your 2.5ghz tbred??
If you talk about PR, then a 2.4ghz Barton @200x12=XP3600+, a 200x12.5=2.5ghz T'bred=XP3200+.Quote:

The amazing thing is, I'm only at 1.7v now. Here's a screenshot of my asus probe. http://www.ezshots.com/members/drs17.../drs1771-2.jpg
I can push to like 210 fsb on my 12 multiplier at 1.85v, but it crashes in prime 95. I can run at 215fsb on my 11 multiplier at 1.75v, but i get better cpu performance on my 12 mult.
As for which is faster, from my first screen shot, you can see that my performance rating is 3471, which falls abit short of mikey's xp3600, but I'll take the 3500 out of a 2500+! Anyhow, my Xp2400 only has a performance rating of 3190, therefore one could conclude that the 512k cache makes a significant difference. I do know this, because my Ak37 is a via kt400 board, it only has a scddr controller and only racks up about 2800meg/sec of memory bandwidth with hyper x @ 400mhz. When I encode an mpeg1, for instance, the ak37 with my Xp2400 will encode at 35 fps, where as my new rig will encode at 43fps, which saves me about 15-20 minutes encoding a 2 hour home movie.
For gaming, there is less than 100 3dmarks difference between the two rigs, both with radeon 8500 based cards. I guess the major difference is the cooling solution. That 2400 is running at 1.95v with some serious fannage. The Barton is at 1.7 volts with only one exhaust fan on the case. (It sounds kind of like my wife's p4 2.53...:D )
Un4given, what keeps that board of yours from doing 200fsb? Vcore?
cool...can't wait for mine :)
PointlesS, is that 1800+ a T-Bred B? May I ask what your plans are for it if it is?:DQuote:

wow man nice oc. dont worry about voltage, I wouldnt run it much past 1.7 unless benching and good cooling. 2.4GHz is VERY good for a barton
as long as your computer is under 55degree's full load, and is stable, you can go as high as 2vcore, but as thunderbird1ghz has mentioned, you'll need good cooling. but from what i read, the barton 2500+ are actually very cool processors. so you can probably push more vcore, with less cooling needed.Quote:

There are 2 things that cause transistors dieing.
1. Temps
2. voltages
So no matter what temps you have, if your volts are too high, you can theoretically burn the proc.
(thinks about prommies)
Yeah and AMD stated that the voltages wont burn the CPU until you are 0.5v over the normal rating. So I could run my TBred B at 2.1v without it burning, if I had good temps, theoretically.Quote:

so then, me running 1.9 to 1.95 Vcore with temps of about 93-97F full load would be ok...
yup, anything under 2vcore, with under 50-55 degress full load should be fine.
My 2700+:

I think it's about time to vmod this dang A7N8X. 1.85v is crap.
That thing must own.Quote:

Case is on its way. :D :p
Sure does. I just got through playing the Call of Duty demo. :DQuote:

What case are you getting btw? :confused:Quote:

Cool case, and you're getting black I assume? Wish I had chosen a Lian Li or CoolerMaster case for my AMD rig (for some variety), BUT, what the heck. I still like it! Looks like an awesome rig and case dude! :DQuote:

DRS, what is the stepping on that thing??? From what I have seen the AQXEA chips now a days are doing this sort of OC regularly. The Y chips are supposedly the better OC'ers, I was just wondering if you had the full stepping code...

I ran prime all night, and when I got up this morning it was still running. It did give me a couple of warnings, but so does every other o.c.ed rig that I have.
I tried to push to 12.5 X 200 (2500mhz:eek: ) and she posted then tanked loading Windows. I gave it my max 1.85 vcore, and it still wouldn't go. If I could give it even 1.9, I'm sure it would. All you NF7-S and 8RDA rev. 2.0 guys ought to be getting 2500 out of it...
Royal, next time I pull the hs off, I'll p.m. you the full stepping. It was something like AQXEA3033 BLAH BLAH BLAH. You know, I just had an idea. I think I'll drop this cpu in my AK37, it's doing 12.5 X 200 on my Xp2400 right now, and its Vcore goes to 2.3V (INSANE:eek: ) Cool, now I have something to do today...
