It's only a few single player maps, and a few MP maps (which you can play on LAN). You can tell it's a beta though, still pretty buggy and some textures are messed up. I think the retail is supposed to be available on Sept. 30th.
LOL, I guess they figure it's so late that when they put it out isn't really that important. I don't think any game developer/publisher in their right mind would put out an FPS the same time HL2 is scheduled for release...at least not if they really wanted it to succeed.Quote:

there's alot of graphics place holders I hear, and it looks like crud on dx8 cards. (the beta that was leaked that is)
after playing the PC beta for 2 days and playing the xbox version in the past... i still dont see what all the hype is about this game... IMHO its basically unreal2 with uglier graphics.

when I first saw that flamethrower shot I thought it was deus ex at first...at first I was really looking forward to the game but now that I find out that it's x-box halo with some multiplayer tweaks I think I'll skip this one unless the multiplayer is godlike (which I doubt) as you all may (or may not know) I'll be camping outside best buy on sept 30th and if the game is released that day then I won't even look at the box and pick up the game in my avatar as fast as possible...

Everything I've read and heard says there is no coop, the website talks about how you can have teams in multiplayer, but I've not seen a thing about coop. Anyone playing the beta able to fill us in?
I played it yesterday and it sucks. I immediatly uninstalled it.

Those graphics look terrible. I really wanted to try this game out on PC, but I should have expected a crappy transition.... Ohh well, I guess Ill just stick with UT
Supposedly the new beta that was just leaked the gfx are much better, people are having probs running AA on ati cards which causes all the textures to be greyed out. Regardless though still in beta form and runs decent on mid-range < i.e gf3 or equiv > systems.
I'm not sure what to do on this one. On the one hand, I'm pissed Bungie didn't come out with this on the PC first so I feel like I shouldn't get it. On the other hand, I want to encourage them to cater to the PC market first so I feel like I should get it. I'm also leading toward buying it because I loved the Marathon series back in the day, and this is basically a newer version of it.
Aw man, no CO-OP? W-T-H! Why won't developers release more games with CO-OP? I love Sam 2 just because of the damn CO-OP! That blows.
I have no idea what some of you people are going on about with regards to Halo PC's graphics!!! Maybe you're using lame *** PC's or something, or maybe you haven't played the leaked beta at all and are just looking at the screenshots.
I've just played the Halo PC beta and must say that I'm really impressed with how the graphics have come out on this conversion, some wonderful shiny metal environmental texture mapping, proper bump-mapping (still quite rare to see even in modern games), DX8 water effects. Granted it's no Doom 3 or Half-life 2, though the quality of the graphicc in this really did blow me away. True I was expecting a shoddy conversion, and thus crappy graphics, but I'm really supprised with what GearBox have achieved. Millions times better than Xbox version IMHO.
I've played the Xbox version to death practically, however after playing the PC version I'd have to say I'm definately getting this.
In case you're wondering my rig is P4 2.0GHz, Radeon 9700 Pro, 512MB DDR266. It does run a bit sluggish though, even at 1024x768. Hopefully, this is because it's beta and thus unoptimised!
What about the co-op issue?
I'm not impressed with the Halo Beta AT ALL....it looks and runs so much better on my xbox.
Well one of my friends got his hands on the beta and said that they used low-res textures in the beta. Hence, the beta is not an accurate portrayal of what the full game will actually look like. Judge the full game, not an alpha or beta. That being said I don't think I'll end up playing this game, esp. seeing as how many quality PC games are going to be coming out soon. Plus, in my last semester and on the job hunt I need less distractions, not more :)
Exactly, they should only be allowed to release games during summer break or winter break.
But HL2 is welcome to be released anytime :)
