WHY ARE YOU READING THIS!!!
GET GOIN!!!
too bad i already have one...
does anyone have that demo cd they can upload for me? i don't know where mine went. i wanna try it out with my new ultras when they come in the mail later in the week :)
Holy crap this is sooo tempting...
I was pretty much set on the Revo, but man this is one hell of a deal. I've started playing UT, and Halo will be soon enough, so I was thinking I should get the A2 anyways.
BAAHHH I hate these decisions:mad:
i'd get the a2
I guess it looks like I'm selling my MP3+:D
nice work. still working on the ultras from this end.
Some questions...
I remember hearing that the original audigy 2 sucked? And that the good ones were the cards recently released... this card fall in the sucky category or was that just a rumor? Secondly how much of an upgrade would this be from a mp3+, noticable sound clarity? One of the things that would make me go for it is when I try and play dark age of camelot + listen to winamp at same time, sometimes winamp like skips and stuff, which I assume is soundcard related like it isnt powerful enough or something.
i'm not sure who told you that the audigy 2 sucked, it certianly does NOT. it is by far the best gaming/music aimed card on the market. perhaps they are referring to the new audigy zs 2, which is better, but i'm not sure by how much. that, and it's about twice as much as it the original audigy2, which can be had for i think 55 dollars at compusa, or 78 shipped, no tax at good old newegg.Quote:

as for noticable difference, i'd say it was like night and day, between my old live 5.1, and the audigy 2. if you combine that with high end MM speakers, you will be blown away. for audiophiles/gamers like me, there is no substitute. i'd definitely get the new audigy 2, but i can't afford to drop another 150 for it. as for skipping, i doubt it's the sound card, it could very well be your speakers (which do you have?) and its connection, what you're running in the background, and how the song was encoded. i often hear skips and blips on poorly recorded or low bitrate mp3s.
care to link where you heard about this suckiness...cause pretty much all the praise that has come of the A2 is from the original version. These new NX whatever ones are pretty new. The original Audigy on the other had was a TEH SUCK!!!!
agreed
Dunno maybe it was the original audigy, just remember hearing stuff back in the day. I have the Monsoon MH-505 system, and ya I usually do a lot of stuff in the background, playing daoc in windowed mode, having winamp playing, irc, surfing web, have one of those seti like projects running 24/7. No problems though really though unless im running a game + winamp at same time, dunno.
you just answered your own question.
I'm pretty sure you're talking about the Audigy 1. I remember hearing everyone complain how bad it was and how much of a "UNupgrade" it was from the SBlive series.;) The A2 is a totally different card and has better DACS for music reproduction.
Ok but is the audigy 2 an upgrade then in the sense that i guess it handles more processing power than the mp3+ so you can have more audio using programs open at once without it starting to break up?
This has nothing to do with the sound card. The number of audio programs you have open is CPU and RAM dependant. You will notice better sound quality yes, but system performance, no.Quote:

actually, the A2 is quite good when it comes to performance, it uses up less resources than most sound cards.
That's another reason why it holds the top spot for gaming sound card. The Revo uses more resources and from what I hear, just lacks in the gaming department (compared to the A2 that is.)Quote:

tru dat homes.
actually to a degree what he is descibing is soundcard dependent.Quote:

much like a CPU...a sound card is a single device, and when you have multiple programs requesting sound processing. Usually good processors can kinda process multiple tasks at once but if its starts getting intense (liek when games start having multiple sounds coming from multiple directions while using EAX) you can max the processors out. One program will get fubared, one won't.
It is also limited by how quickly sounds can be pulled from RAM and the HDD drive...but generally its easier to choke the sound processor then the max mem bandwidth.
I have an Audigy 1, and I don't think it sucks. It has better sound than my onboard nForce2 audio. My speakers are the Creative 5.1s, not the best but they don't suck either.
That's what I was sorta thinking Isezumi. Thanks for the replies though probably gonna order it in a couple days. Next project is replacing the speaker wires that the cats chewed through on my monsoons :)
I called up best buy and they said it was $129.99
Have any ads or anything?
Note: Best buy blows...took them 68 rings for them to pickup the damn phone.
WHAT?! Not 69 rings? j/k;) You actually stayed on the line and counted?:)Quote:

I got bored and I work for Circuit City so I was wondering how long it would take them. If we don't answer the phone within 3 rings, we normally get yelled at.Quote:

I checked their site, which they took it down on. However, if you do a search for it, find it, and go to compare it will show up. However, it says not available in stores (what bs). I'm thinking about printing it out and complaining till I get it. What do you all think?
got those pics of the ultras up yet? :)
