You could def break 19k, 20 maybe if you push hard enough.
You have PC3000 ram right? You should be able to run at least 185 fsb (thats what its rated). There are lil tweaks here and there you can do. If ya have win2k, try that and the 3.2 catalyst drivers. Also run 3dmark in real time priority (open task manager, system processes and right click on it). It always scores better after a fresh format so if ya have a spare hd you can use that. There are other things but I can't think of them off the top of my head right now...just came back from watching Underworld (one of the cheesiest movies I've seen in a while) and I'm kinda brain dead.
G'luck!
yep i have my trusty ol corsair XMS pc3000 would it be able to do 185fsb on 2-2-2-6 t1 timings? at like 2.8vdimm (my motherboard's max) however when i tried 185 last time i would get random lockups in 01, could that be my lame KT400 chipset? i should "borrow" win2k from someone :D can i get the catyalst 3.2's from www.omegacorner.com or something? running 3dmark in realtime priority is a good idea! i'll have to try that tomorrow when i bench again! thanks for the info!! :D:DQuote:

you will need over 200fsb for 19k. I cant get over 190fsb, you cant even get 185fsb :( we probably got unlucky kt400 mobos. do you think if I buy another kt400 ill get like 225fsb?
Yeah, sign on AIM once in a while :)Quote:

No, get a proven mobo. I don't even have to say what it is, you already know ;)Quote:

wish I could see what score I could get with a 9800 Pro, I'm close to getting 18.5k as well
makes me want to sell my kt400 mobo and get myself an nforce2
but if i think about it... all that money just for some extra 3dmarks? OKAY! haha :D
If T-bird is really your friend, slap some sense into him. Do NOT let him buy another crap board.Quote:

i should get an nf2 and blow him away with my results ;) then maybe he would consider one
actually you do got a point :D if you get an nf2, first id like you to compare it at same fsb and cpu MHz as you had on your old kt400 mobo. lets say 185fsb and 2.4GHz was your max, run it at that on the nf2 and see if performance goes up. one of my friends said he lost 300 marks  also id like you to report on stability and reliability. lastly, tell me all the bios options such as pci/agp manual adjustments, cpu and ram voltages, even the option to adjust the chipset voltage for higher fsb overclocking. and itll be interesting to see if your mobo doesnt die on you like it did to xduck 5 times!!!!!!!!!!
i just ran 3dmark again, got 18274 this time...
i'll install the omega catalyst 3.2's now and see if there is any improvement :D
damn, i think i got a corrupted download of the 3.2's, it didn't want to work for me :(
any opinions on the omega 3.8's yet? i'll try to download those and see if they help
edit: w00t 600th post :D
I just DL'd the 3.8 Omegas.....gonna try them later tonite with some cooler air.......Quote:

glad to see more people wishing they DIDN'T have a kt-400. I cant wait to get an A7N8-D or NF7-S. My board weezes and coughs when I put the fsb over 195.
:(
kt400 mobos arent bad, but some of us got unlucky and could not hit 200fsb :( I know it sucks, I was expecting 215+ outta her, guy who sold me it said it can do that easy. his friend said keep the fsb under 240 to avoid problems from the pci getting too high. nf2 mobos may be a little faster but you cant have your cake and eat it too, theres always a catch :( and hey whats ur 3dmarks?
My best 3dm 2001se score is 14,000 even. This is with the proc at stock speed, but gpu as per my sig. ive had the 2500 at stock since deciding to wait on an OC-able board.
Never run 3dm 03, but i just got aqua earlier today and it looked great--for about 15 seconds, then hardlock. I suspect this is also due to the mobo. (fps was about 60 until lockup...) I will admit that my board has been pretty reliable until tweakage...
I've seen you mention that in the last 10 or so threads I've read. Understand this:Quote:

1) I was using a Prometeia, without any condensation protection (dielectric grease).
2) I was pushing the system VERY far.
3) I did not know the full extent of the NF7-S's quirks. I have now created workarounds for every one of them. The NF7-S is like an expensive sports car - it is extremely powerful, but you need to treat it properly. An interesting screenshot for you: (my getting 246fsb, 1:1, 2-2-2-11, CPU Interface Enabled):

Tbird, you need to grow up. I don't even know whether to laugh or to cry when I read your posts anymore. You inexplicably insist on buying mediocre hardware just for the sake of doing so. In reality, every time you have done what EVERYBODY here is telling you to do (mind you, it takes about 300 posts from 250 people to convince you), you have ended up being happy with it. Case in point - the SLK-800. Another case in point - the Tbred B. Until you grow up, I will try to refrain from replying to your posts. I don't care if you break 15k, or 16k, or even 20k. As long as you are stubborn, INTENTIONALLY ignorant, and delusional, I don't want to feed your need for attention.
Best wishes (and I mean that),
Mike
