my 21" is nice, but a 24" is nicer :D a 24" CRT would be the ultimate IQ in games. notice I do not want widescreen, but normal 4:3 ratio :)

You must be getting a new video card then...
I don't think I've seen any 24" displays that aren't widescreen. The one's I saw that came up on Google are about $1800 unshipped too.
Why do you care about game IQ when you don't even play games?
Remember, 3DMark isn't a game. :o
I'm sure that your 21" displays 3Dmark01 just fine.
i wonder what a 24" would weigh
alot I guess and you know monitors display 2-d and with a 24" I can surf the web in 1600x1200 anyday without having to move close to see the small text. There has to be some nice 4:3 24"

HAHAHAHA! He wants to spend well over a thousand dollars to surf the net in 1600x1200...
Why not spend that money on destroying that 64 meg antique of yours and picking up a nice 9800pro eh? :p
Can your card even display IE at 1600x1200? ;)
agreed :DQuote:

heh no, im looking for one around $300 man(used). plus my 21" can do 1600x1200 easy but everything would be so much larger and better on a 24" plus id like to get a used trinitron flat CRT with .24 or better dot pitch. basically at least the same quality as mine but 3 inches larger :D
first of all i have never seen a 24inch 4:3 crt monitor. you can get bigger, but it wont be a flat screen. second of all, even if there was a such thing, there is no way in hell you would find it for $300 used or otherwise.
I don't think you'll be finding ANYTHING that you want for $300. Don't forget, a monitor(especially a big one) is pretty useless unless it has a refresh rate of at least 85hz. Some may disagree, but at this size...
if you ever find one of those $300 24" monitors let me know....
You should get an LCD projector and surf the web with that.:D
I can tell you for a fact that Sony doesnt make any 24" 4:3 CRTs. They might lease their tube design to someone that does. But I have never seen one, ever. And I agree with speedstream5621, if it cant do 85hz you're brain will explode. The lowest RR I can stand is 75hz.
edit---
75hz for 2D but 85hz is bare min for 3D stuff
You wish :pQuote:

In 4:3 format, what you are looking for does not exist. Sony did/does(duhno) made/makes(once again no idea and too lazy to check) a 24" Trinitron CRT, but it was widescreen format. However, it was close to $2k. At that price you can get an HDTV, and just use that as a monitor.
They do make a 24" widescreen trinitron still, the GDM-FW900 and its still like 2k$. So I mean a 24" 4:3 w/ the same tube (more likely better) would be even more money.Quote:

And even with the best HDTV you can get the highest 4:3 resolution you can display will be like 1280x1080i. All of the true HDTV signals like 1080i and 720p are all widescreen. If you have a 4:3 TV that can handle those and you give it one of those resolutions it will force it to widescreen. Not to mention the Tubes that can take those resolutions and display then natively are usually quite large, like 30"s or larger
HAHAHAHAHA... this thread is hilarious, 300 for a used 24 incher that doesn't even exist. Great, especially since 300 is what you pay for a .24 trinitron in A grade shape at merkortech.com... and that's a 21 incher. Good luck finding one, you'd do better by buying a 42" plasma and hooking it up.
I paid $230 for my 21" and I can get em for like $150 now so I figure twice the cost should get me a used 24" Its only 3 inches bigger, not a mile  and why would they not have a 4:3 24" this is dumb there has to be one somewhere man and screw a 30" monitor unless it has .24 or better AG pitch :D
again about your home planet, aren't you???
R U sure U R not related to Mork???
just pulling yer leg.
baldy:D
They probably don't make 24" 4:3 monitors because anything over 21" is pretty much useless as far as desktop goes. Unless of course you're doing CAD work (where a 24" widescreen would come in handy). A 24" 4:3 probably isn't even 3" more. My bet would be something like an extra 1/2" on each side, the rest would just be a sales pitch, like the 22" monitors.
You'd be better off getting an HDTV and just using it as a monitor and sitting far away from it ;) Or get one of those Sony projectors :drools: Or you know, if you were really about IQ you could always get rid of that Ti4200 and get a 9800 (great IQ).
Well spotted.. :)Quote:

Other than this thread being a complete joke, thanks to the author...
The offical 4:3 HDTV resoltuion would be 1440x1080, i or p. 1280 is reserved for 720p resolutions.Quote:

t-bird, your super badass top of the line ti4200 should upgrade your monitor to a 24" by just plugging in the VGA cable! with overclocking your looking at a 30", no telling what your gonna pull with some gpu cooling.

You guys gotta stop being so harsh to this guy. His wants are alot more realistic than you guys think. So far this is the closest thing I could find to what you wanted.

That company is highly reliable and efficient. I have ordered all my monitors there with absolutely no problem. THey are just like merkortech, except NOT SHADY AS ****! I even got a grade-b one time for budget constraints and the only thing wrong was a big black scratch on the back of the case which I dont even see while typing. Anyways, check out the link.
