my first impressions of counterstrike-condition zero...

I played the full version today for the first time.
I used to be a huge CS fan , played it for hours. Then along came SoF 2, and CS was history...better graphics , better gameplay .

Condition Zero has slightly better graphics that the original CS , but not much better . The textures still look like half life , the death animations are all repetitive ,blood sprays look like finger paint ... the environment is very UN-interactive , and the gameplay is completely linear . In short, this game is WAY outdated , and I cant understand why it took Valve so long to release it, and for that matter, why they even bothered... Too little, too late guys, but nice try.

Not all missions are straight shoot em' ups, however - tip of the hat for that . I love stealth missions.

I would give Condition zero a 6/10 , it's now off my hard drive . Please dont waste your money on it, unless you're a die-hard counterstrike fan ...if there are any left by now.

Well... depends on what kind of gameplay you want.

Team based strategy (with counter/terriorist theme) king is still CS.

Isn't SoF a really "deathmatch" kind of game?

Anyways, it's true that Valve came up with this thing way too late.
Still, I would guess this would generate quite a significant amount of income.

Just out of curiosity, what are they charging for this?

I also agree that this game is going to be dated. This thing was supposed to be out like 2 years ago.

me either....never liked CS in the first place, i'd play for a few rounds at a LAN or something, and just get bored...all those games where you go in and if you die you have to wait to the next round don't interest me at all...CS, Q3 rocket arena, etc....they're all boring as hell

SoF2 is the most highly under rated online game of all, IMO.
Yeah, there is simple deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag and infiltration ( you have to grab a suitcase and get out alive ) . What makes it fun online is the use of grenades - flash nades ( blind ya for a bit ) , flame nades, ( they torch up you and anyone standing nearby ) , smoke nades and frag nades. The variation of guns makes it fun too...some are good long range with scopes, some are better up close and personal...makes the game unpredictable .
The levels are fun and varied , the gunfights are intense . It's a much more involved game than CS ...there's nothing out there that comes close . But thats only my opinion...
I dont know what Valve plans on charging for condition zero. I just wanna warn people that the hype over the improved graphics and gameplay is not reality. This game sucks. I cant wait to read the "professional" reviews....

Since when is CS Condition Zero out???:confused: :confused:

it was leaked sometime ago...I could care less really...cs with slightly improved graphics...more maps...and ai that probably resembles some form of bot that was done as a mod for cs...and to top it all off...the awp...which makes me wonder who's idea it was to add a gun that kills most of the time on one shot...

lol..someone had to say it....while i'm definately not the greatest at CS, i can hold my own in Rocket Arena, but it's still trememdously boring to me ;)

I just use PodBot, it's basically the same thing. I would have bought CS:CZ 6 months ago, but not today.

Yea, it had to be said. :D Like Mc. Cherry, I don't even play online anymore and limit my play to Podbot on my own. I don't have to worry about cheaters or pissy mods that kick you because you killed them, or people that stack teams so they are always lop sided, etc.

Not interested at all in CS Condition Zero.

SOF2 is pretty cool though.

I never got into CS, but I did play Global Operations quite a bit. Basically the same as CS, but with a much smaller fan base. Therefore better servers with people who didn't cheat.

Same here! Podbot is good practice, so you can WHUP people at lan parties.;)

yeah, the bots in condition zero are about 2 years behind in AI. and good point - CS is full of cheaters, ruined it for everyone.

I'll hold out for HL2 :D

While not even close to being human, I've found PodBot to be the closest bot I've ever found. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference. Especially when they start smack talking.

If you ask me, CS: Condition Zero became a distant memory since the announcement of Half-Life 2. We can pretty much guarantee that we'll see Counter-Strike on the Half-Life 2 engine so why even bother with Condition Zero anymore?

Besides, CS kinda bores me after a while anyways. Raven Shield > Counter-strike anyday.

I'm a big proponent of SoF2 so it pains me to say that CS takes a bit more skill and patience to play. While they appear to be very similar in game play, SoF2 is more forgiving for beginners. Consistantly I am in the top 3 when I play SoF2, but trying to play CS I'm usually one of the first casualties.

Condition Zero looked very polished from the screen shots, even well enough to take on Sof2 in graphics, but I guess playing is believing. Too bad.

condition zero is mildly entertaining for a while, but gets old quickly. Don't bother with it. The graphics are decent, the gun models look nice, the sound is excellent, but the gameplay just isn't all that exciting or original.

You gotta wonder who makes the business decisions at valve.

I mean, I "might" have bought this game about a year and a half ago, but as is, there is no way I'd buy it now. It doesn't look that much different than CS and with HL2 and some other games coming out, who wan'ts to rehash a game 4 years old. Sure it has single player, bah, get POD bot like you guys said and play with yourself all day long. I doubt this will sell, but who knows there are tons of people out there with lower end computers and no modem who never played CS that might buy it.

I agree, I LOVE Ravenshield - it's a hard game though...but it's pretty realistic.
SoF2 is good for beginners, but when you play with guys that are good, it's challenging.

Imagine a counterstrike type game , using the new half life 2 engine ? :p
