DUDE! ccms2 is the ONLY WAY TO GO!! the difference between the two is night and day. but seriously i would use ccms2 because it seems more clear than ccms1. im not sure why that is even an option in the card. they should have just left it at ccms2 quality. its like having an option do want to spend $5k for a ford focus with bose audio or $5k for a cadillac esclade with 22" rims dropped dropped and a very very nice audio system and a custom leather interior and dvd system and a...well you get my point. :D
i've noticed that CCMS1 is more uniform, and CCMS2 really shoots the power to the front, and a lot more quieter in the back. it upmixes it a lot though, the bass seems stronger. perhaps CCMS1 is for music and CCMS2 is for games and DVDs?
Neither!;)
CMSS2=Too much bass added.
CMSS= A little more natural, but gets annoying with upbeat songs, where a lot is going on.
CCMS2 is nothing...
My awesome onboard sound has this option to split my signal 5 ways and play it through my sweet sounding 5200's. Now that sounds amazing!

Really? Do u just have it set on 5.1?Quote:

Just have it set to 4.1 for my Z560's & the PM14's. (don't use both as same time);)
Whenever you play music and CMSS is disabled, it only outputs sound from the front two speakers, regardless of how many speakers you've set it up as. Call me old fashioned, but I like plain stereo with none of that "simulated" surround stuff. Once in a while, I'll use CMSS if I'm in the mood.:D
aah. i WAS wondering how you woulda gotten out of all 5 channels for music. i like using all 5 speakers, i mean, i paied alot for a 5.1, so why not use them all? :) the CCMS is really good. i think i've come to the conlusion that i like CCMS1 more than CCMS2, after trying CCMS1. I had always been using CCMS2
More power to ya! That's what the ultra's are for.:DQuote:

Have you tried playing dvd audio on your setup? (not DD or DTS video dvds) There's not many releases, but I hear dvd audio is amazing. I think there's a sampler that comes with the retail A2, but I got the oem.:p
CMSS seems to be lacking some bass in comparison to CMSS simply being disabled.
I found that CMSS 2 just adds a lot of lower mids and kind of garbles the sound.
i noticed that with CCMS2, i'm not sure if playing without CCMS provides more bass tho.Quote:

cmss2 is by far the best for me...but then again I like bass and my *** shaking...
;)
Try it. For me, its given me noticable hits in low-end.Quote:

Edit: Yup. I didn't notice it until the actual bass guitar kicked in in "Step Lively - String Beans"
Same with plenty of other songs.
I would have to concur with crawlingeye on this one, for me cmss takes a deep chunk out of the bass...
thats why its all about DPL/II :p
I've tried DPL II, its pretty good- not perfect. Much better than cmss in my opinion. I find it a b1tch to open powerdvd to use it however.
Also I like your yoda pick :D good stuff hehehe
i do notice it a bit. but i just up the bass a little bit manually.Quote:

I suppose that would work.Quote:

I get the impression (no real testing done) that it's actually losing some extension, rather than a hit in the gain of the bass. Raising the gain will just boost the frequencies it's really allowing to pass through yet, if this is the case.
i dont think it's losing anything. i think it sounds a bit more upmixed, with less gain. i played a few songs with CCMS and CCMS not enabled, and i think I actually hear a bit more in the sound. i don't think it's losing any extensions. i might be wrong, but that's what my ears are telling me. more to with further investigation.
did i do something wrong with my setup?? for me the difference between ccms vs ccms2 is like using an old school boombox vs movie theater quality. as far as shooting more power to the front, i adjusted the slider so that the rear is ever so slightly louder than my front. (-8 IIRC). by default the slider is 100% front. you must adjust this to the quality where you want it (assumming you have a 4.1-5.1 speaker set.) i cannot think of situation where ccms2 will sound better than ccms whether its classical music, gaming, dvd watching, etc.
your ost is conflicting. do you like ccms2 more or ccms1? to me and crawling eye, ccms2 makes our music sound garbled, and poorly upmixed. i think ccms2 is intended for dvds and games, not music.Quote:

I think he likes CMSS1. I agree with you PinchyCM about CMSS2. I don't like it.Quote:

score.
i don't use ccms1 at all, and ccms2 sounds almost the same as having the music just played through all your speakers normally.
