am i a bad person?

so you ever get that feelin that yer a BAD IMPULSE SHOPPER?????
well i did ...about 30 min ago, i was in best buy lookin for cds and dvds and decided to look at their comp stuff...i dont usually buy from them unless its a sweet deal (got a cd-rw 52x for $30 1 time and a 120G HDD for $100 oanother time) and there on the shelf was a ati radeon 9800 pro for 299... i bought it w/o even thinkning (actually i thought i saw it for more on newegg but maybe a diff one) so now after i take my physics w/calc quiz today, im gonna go home and shove it in...am i a bad person for buying from best buy or was it a good deal since it comes with HL2 (when it comes out) and can prolly return it easily (ive never had a prob returnin open products to best buy) if i needed to????

I think you made a good buy. The cheapest online that I can see is 295.00 and it is not a BBA card. Plus I think Best Buy has a 30day price guarantee, so if you see it for cheaper just get the difference. :D

You might be a bad impulse controler but not a bad person. That deal is decent. You would be hard pressed to find a better deal online today.

now i have a new query, i have , currently, a nvidia 5200 pci, in my comp, so im gonna wanna remove all nvidia crap off my comp right? i remember seeing on these forums of a program that removes all nvidia stuff, can some1 link it please, id appreciate it, also, it says in the manual to connect the power to the HDD too, do i have to do that, or can i just plug it str8 to the PSU?
and do i wanna DL the newest drivers from ati cuz on the website it says to DL only if there is a prob... or do i just DL anyway? i dont plan on OC the card cuz i dont wanna put a new HSF on the thing, unless the card does well OC with stock? what say ye? should i OC or should i leave alone (i think ill be ok with it at stock, but who knows, ya know!)

I thought that only the XT's came with the coupon for hl2. Is this just a Best Buy deal or are all the 9800 pros now being shipped with the coupon?

nattylife, the way I got rid of my Nvidia drivers and did not have to format going from Nvidia to ATI was to bootup in safe mode and remove the display drivers in add/remove programs, then I let it reboot into windows and used my jv16 power tools and remove the nivdia global from the list then I used the reg cleaner part of it. I also checked in C: and looked for a nvidia driver folder there. Seeing that you use a Nforce 2 MB there will be two folders inside just delete the one with the nvidia drivers in it not the ones for the MB chipset. then I ran a search for nvidia and get rid of anything else to do with the nvidia drivers.

I'm a pretty bad impulse buyer too...the 2500+ 1gig of ram and motherboard were practically impulse buying...oh and the radeon 9500 pro too...but I got a good deal on the 9500 pro so I couldn't pass it up...

Same, went watercooling cause I was bored...

We always justify it by saying we "got a good deal" -- I say as long as it doesn't break the bank, and you're happy with the product itself -- its a good buy ;)

I just succumbed to the same temptation today and added a Lite-On CDRW/DVD to my order when I purchased my SX4000 from Newegg. It was only $50, but I don't really need it, so I'm kind of feeling silly about it now...

Impulse buys aren't necessarily bad, just make sure it's a good deal. Yours doesn't look too bad. FYI, this page might be of interest to you if you haven't read it yet.

LOL!!! :D No, you're not bad at all, just bad impulse control.;) But then, who am I to say?! - I bought the Audigy2 ZS outta pure impulse (the salesgirl's cute;) ) and now, I've gotten the Z-640 too (guess from whom?:p ). Ahhh...the stupid things we do for a pretty face!:o Still, I've got no regrets with my sound upgrade as it rocks!:D Nattylife, you gonna be real happy with that kickbutt card!;) :)
