they are going to cap it at 60fps. I wonder if that will improve the ATI cards preformance on the game.

Old news. I don't see a problem with this. Now the developer (ID) can spend more time giving people a constant frame rate with lots of eye candy. Who needs 200 FPS anyways?
people who need a big e-penis...Quote:

yeah this one was beaten to death already in Vid cards.
I personally think its a good move...Of course it miss piss off all the computer FREAKS who can't tolerate anything below 84hz refresh least they get a headache.
I wonder if Tbird is going to start trashing D3 for capping his FPS...
ohhh wait, he never plays games... ;)
Capping the FPS at 60 will have nothing to do with headaches caused by refresh rate. The monitor will still be refreshing itself at whatever the refresh rate is set to.Quote:

Count me out :)
I don't need the latest and the greatest.
Or it's just sour grapes.
depends...people with supremely acute vision might be able to tell the difference in motion when the physics is capped.Quote:

Also wouldn't that effect the vsync too... I personally cant stand tearing in my games... if my refresh rate is set to 85 then how can I get a "tear" free image if its capped at 60 FPS... not like i'll be hitting any where near that number but lets just say I do;)
Nope not at all...Quote:

WHen your physics engine only works a certain rate anything in excess that it puts out is just filler frames. Filler frames are just copies of the previous frame until something needs altering. You would have to get well into like 600 fps on a 60 frame capped engine before it could reasonably start to look fill choppy.
if you have v-sync on and your refresh rate is at 85hz it just means you'll be displaying 60 frames at 85hz that's all...Quote:

Don't worry, you KNOW there will be a hack to make it go above 60fps so the vid card whores don't complain for 6 months.

But that isn't what causes the headaches, it is the strobing effect from the monitor when the screen refresh is too slow and becomes noticeable. I seriously doubt when that game arrives that anyone will be able to do 60 FPS, or if they reach it, maintain it. This has been the case with most big titles upon release. Just because they capped it 60 FPS doesn't seem to any reason to worry about it.Quote:
