its a pretty good game but i hear it requires lots of horsepower to run it effectively, try 800x600 32bit if it runs junky try 16bit if its still junky go 640x480 32 bit and if it is STILL junky turn it off. u have the memeory bandwidth of pc 133, so hat could pose a problem... also your running a celeron.... let us know how it runs
it had too many controls so i uninstalled it LOL
If i remember correctly near 15-17hrs w/o guide. But it is super simple imo on pc as the a.i was designed for console where it was impossible to aim
10-15 hours
Im on the last mission, and Im out of ammo, except for my pistol... :(
I have a funny feeling I'll need to have ammo for that sniper rifle...

longer than HALO i'm sure ( )
I own the Xbox version, and it took me about 20 hours to complete it. I'd imagine the PC version would be identical.
Excellent, excellent game. Easily the best "stealth shooter" I've played with the possible exception of the Thief games.
Really? I could have sworn I only spent 5-8 hours on it (even playing on hard). I thought it was a bit short in my opinion.Quote:

yeah it probably was shorter...I don't know though I got really bored of it since the combat was pretty uneventful...Quote:

It could be, I really took my time silently assasinating everyone stealthlike
might have to reinstall it and give it another shot since im done with max payne 2...need something else
I think alot of the time it takes you to complete the game will depend on how you PLAY the game.
This is especially true of stealth games, and Splinter Cell is the perfect example.
It's very possible to just run through the game with the alarm's blaring while you shoot anyone you see to get to the end. This would significantly shorten the game time. But if you want that, just go buy any of the millions of cookie-cutter PC FPS games.
However, IMHO, the game is FAR more enjoyable, and really meant to be played, with actual stealth. Sneaking through the shadows, waiting for cameras to rotate the other way, sneaking past guards, waiting for sentries to walk in range of your sniper rifle, etc etc...is very rewarding, but more time consuming.
Take your time and enjoy the game as it was meant to be enjoyed and I think you'll be much more satisfied.
That is, unless you dislike stealth games altogether, in which case you probably shouldn't have bought Splinter Cell anyway. ;)
I played the game in complete stealth. I only shot who I was required to shoot, and I only shoot cameras and lights. I took everyone down with no lethal methods through-out the entire game. I went for the complete stealth approach and it still didn't take me very long.
Wow you are my hero.
I was only able to do that on one level...
Best way to play this game is not to kill (or even knock down) the people not related to the objective.
I know one of the points to being stealth is not to even touch some people, but I found it a great bit of fun to know I didn't leave one man standing once the mission was over.Quote:

I only played it on the PS2. I beat it in 'bout 15 hours and like a lot of people, if I had to do it again I could probably run through it in 10 hours or less, I spent a lot of time figuring out some stupid puzzles, killing people in the right order and in the right time since there is no quick save on ps2. In the CIA building, I think it was, where you couldn't kill anyone 'cause they were friendly, I could have saved about 2-3 hours if I realized that I could have turned off a light switch and then take people down rather than going kamakazi.
If I remember right, at least on the ps2 version, the last level takes 20-30mins I think. All you basically do is snipe a guy through a window.Quote:

I played through SC the first time killing anyone who got in my way (read: mostly everyone). Then I actually went back through the game and didn't kill anyone although I knocked out quite a number of people.
The thing i hated bout it was the amount of time you had to spend hiding the danm bodies, and even if you only nocked somone unconsous, went off to a difference section, they would "find a body" and raise the alarm stage.
I usually just carried a bdoy with me until I found the next enemy, that was I could kill two birds with one stone.Quote:

That's pretty realistic though. If the guy is unconscious and some other guy finds him, he'll actually wake the unconscious guy up and they will start hunting you again. :DQuote:

yeah, BUT if another dude would find the person you knocked out while you were still in the sector, he would simply say "i need a medkit", wake him up, and all would be dandy.
(you can knock people out by shooting the sticky cam at their head ;))
