the demo is fantastic. i like the improvements over the original.
still, it's not a game that i absolutely need. the original had very low replay value, but this one has MP, so...
i hate the damn graphics engine and use of DX9 effects. the aliasing in night vision is absolutely horrendous. they need to fix this, but they can't. :( that's the nature of DX9 for you.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, Dx9, I can't play it
maybe you can play it with the effects disabled, no?
i have the same problem with aliasing and DX9 effects in NFS:U. that's why i don't use the blur effect.
I think the NVG anti-aliasing is on purpose. It might simulate the fact that your vision isn't at its peak when you're using NVGs.Quote:

On the topic of the game, it's great! I haven't played it too awful much yet, but from what I have played it's fantastic. I'll try to get this soon.
Dude, I havent even beat the first one! Is it me or is it a little difficult than your normal game.

i don't think it's on purpose because even without NVGs, there is severe aliasing. I can't even force the anti-aliasing settings. i think the effects layer is actually permanent, just like Prince of Persia. :o
Really? I had it set at 4x AA and AF and it looked and ran decently. I could definitely see the aliasing in night-vision, but without it I thought it looked better than the first. Well, if this turns out to be a problem then Ubisoft will be hurting in sales. But like I said, I didn't see any problems so I'm all for this.Quote:

And speaking of Prince of Persia, anyone notice the PoP magazines all over the train (they're pretty hard to miss)? Oh, and if anyone knows, are those Japanese magazines real? What publication are they?
It can be quite challenging at moments, however it was not unbearable. There are times when you needed to time things without much room for error. That is when the quick-save and quick-load feature came in very handy.Quote:

I don't think it was too bad, but I heard the console versions were very hard, and I would probably agree if I ever played them. It would be more difficult to aim accurately and as fast with a game controller, in my opinion.
Anyone want to put up screens?
whats a better game. metal gear 2 (the one where you control 2 guys) or splinter cell? im not talking about graphics cause pc will win. just in gameplay, story, maybe even ps2 version for both games.
the train mission was a lot of fun.
Here are some Screenshots of the game, it was fun of what i played of it.:D

The game didn't rely on fast aiming or movement, I actually preferred the console controller as it gave you analogue movement and aiming, I didn't like the PC controls.Quote:

The Xbox version at least didn't allow you to quicksave, there were fixed save points which made some sections difficult but overall I thought it was a very enjoyable game, I'm hoping the sequel is less linear, that was the main annoyance for me with the game.

The Demo Looks Awesome!!
Need Help In The Train Mission Though .. how do we jack out to get to the osprey after we laser mic the convo??
Wait for the two to leave the room, then sneak up on the last guy, knock him out, go into the next car, climb up onto the roof, and run like hell towards the dangling rope.
Thanks :) .. i guess there r two ways
what i did was shoot the lights .. sneaked to the car .. shot 2 guys .. got the health .. and ran like there was no tomorrow towards the helicopter :P
Whistle, then when that guy's checking out stuff, run like hell
that way, you don't kill anyone
On the jungle mission now.
Took me a while to realize i can pass the guys in
the train when the lights are out. Even tried shimmying
outside.
I'm tempted to get it for the online play.
With heat/night vision, the suspense will be
great.
After intercepting the phone call, you can kill !!!
I killed the 2 guys before heading out the the osprey.

The thing about the game is not to kill :)
Heh, in the original Splinter Cell I tried to not kill/knock out anyone not needed to advance the story.
Took so long, so I've only done that for the first few missions.
I never completed a mission until every person that I was allowed to subdue was knocked out, I made sure I was never seen and never hurt, and I never used the gun unless I had to (camera etc). If I didn't do any of that I would redo the mission... Doing all that is what made the first Splinter Cell sooo much fun for me.Quote:
