I am in the first level in Hell and it really opened up the game. They have done an excellent job. Screenshots do not do it justice at all but here's one anyway.

h2-3 hours of hell, then its back to the tight confines of the mars base. And hell isnt that great.
Hell took you 2-3 hours? O_o I waltzed through there in less than 1 hour (normal difficulty).
The beginning of hell looks pretty cool (especially the part where the screenshot was taken)
I thought hell kicked ***. Also mars base gets pretty cool after you come back. IMO you stay at mars base WAY too long before going to hell...
Hell doesn't last very long, and isnt nearly as grim as they I had hoped it would be.
Anyone who played through the original DOOM probably remembers things like human bodies impaled on stakes and hung on ceilings and whatnot. If they had done more like that, with DOOM 3s graphics and presentation, it could have been REALLY freaky, sick stuff.
But there's really nothing like that in hell, or anywhere else. Dead corpses abound, to be sure, but nothing really that makes you go "Oh....my....god..." like I was expecting.
I didn't think about that but it's somewhat true. They could've done more with h3ll. Still, I enjoyed it. I loved how dark it was, really freaked me out sometimes.Quote:

agreed. I think the hallway with suffer, die, and the other stuff scrawled in blood was freakier than hell...Quote:

The whole game looks great and sounds great. Its the game play that get monotenous. I still havent finished it, I can only take it for 20 or 30 minutes at a time now. I might be playing on to hard a difficulty setting, but if I enjoyed the game I wouldnt have stopped playing.
Still say Painkiller was more fun, though I didnt finish that one either.
yeah they shouldve made hell really freaky like in event horizon
Was The Guardian not that freaky to you?Quote:

Oh, was it? It was cool enough, and those seekers added the extra li'l touch, but to say I looked at it and was like "holee sh** that thing is bada*s"? Nope. I actually think the Vagaries looked scarier.
uhh maybe if was a 12 year old girl :oQuote:

You obviously have no idea what 12 yr old girls are capable of these days ;)Quote:

I'll never forget this: some years ago, I was playing Blood (they should do a sequel to THAT!) and watching the second ending movie in which Kaleb tears out the organs of the spider-mummy thing and eats them. My parents had friends visiting and they'd brought their kids. Now, get this: their 13-yr old son had to turn away because he couldn't watch, and their 8 yr old daughter asked me to show it to her again, she thought it was so "cool". Weird lot.
no, looked like a generic final boss type thing. Nothing spectucular or scary about it...it's attacks were weak and it was very predicatble and slow. I beat it and I don't think i got hit once. Yeah, it was recruit, but still, the final boss should at least get one hit in.Quote:

I agree. It was very predictable. Not freaky but freakish maybe. Nevertheless, it was a good change of pace and nice to see a new face.Quote:

One of my favorite movies, but they didnt go to hell, at least I dont think so. One guy got sucked through the blackhole drive or whatever, but camera didnt follow.Quote:

True, they never went to hell in Event Horizon. But, throughout the movie there are cut scenes of very disturbing things - I think kpxgq was refering to those, which indeed, are more freakish than anything I've seen in Doom3 yet (haven't finished it yet, I'm almost to hell).
Also, did they ever really say it was Hell in Event Horizon? I think it was another dimension that they wanted the audience to assume was Hell or something similar, but they never specifically said it was Hell. Considering this, maybe Doom3 should of sent you to another dimension instead of Hell, it appears more freakish stuff occurs in other dimensions. lol :D
