I think people should stop "judging" others who feel differently about this topic than they do. I grow weary of all the hypocrisy.
I also feel that this thread is far more "philosophical" than computer software oriented as well as Flame Fest Fodder and therefore should be locked.

EDIT: The last thing I want with my morning coffee is a yet another lecture on this beat to death topic.
So then what your saying it stealing and taking what doesn't belong to you is "philosophical?" Interesting concept on how to get something for nothing off the back of others. And that one shouldn't judge another because they steal.Let me ask you an honest question . Do you steal? I would seem logical to think that the only ones who would have trouble and be upset with this thread would be the people who take what doesn't belong to them. Also explaine to us the difference between truth and one being philosophical?Quote:

And so it begins, flame wars usually begin when one member puts words in the mouth of another. If you'll read my post again, I said nothing even similar to the above.
Do you steal?
Inflammatory question trolling for trouble
Also explaine to us the difference between truth and one being philosophical?
This Site has no" Off Topic" forum.
Oh oh! The all mighty righteous nerd police is here!
Let people make their own choices.

I notice you are running a 300Mhz overclock on you rig.
Isn't that STEALING revenue from Intel?
If you wanted more performance, Intel sells faster processors than the one you paid for. Since you only paid for 3.2 Ghz, that is all the performance you are entitled to. (Philosophically speaking of course):p
OR does that make YOU a thief?
I guess what I find hard to understand is the bitterness you two have on this subject. Its a senitive subject and I appoligizes If I came off sounding self rightous. Your input is welcome I just asked for you to explain you comment. Its not a flame war or that someone is self righous about paying for somthing. Sure I overclock but I see no where where Intel says its illegal.
Your thoughts are welcome and we would be interested in what you have to say.But please don't get so upset with people who post. I never said I was free from every doing anything wrong.
Why be so defensive? Remember this is just a forum. I'm sorry if I in any way offened .
Was the tone of your post influenced by Mrs. Tinker not fulfilling her wifely obligations?Quote:

If so, rock on, Mr. Tinker!
Like I said this "subject" has been beat to death (by pirates no less)in this forum already.Quote:

Posting statements like:
2. PAY PEOPLE FOR THEIR WORK. We all want to get paid when we work so if someone makes a game Pay him for it and get on with your life.
and
4.UNDERSTAND THAT STEALING IS WRONG PERIOD!. Its just as wrong to steal money from a big Company as it is to steal money from your grandma's purse.
is no way to win friends or influence people.
Gunslash post was very concise - "let people make their own choices."
Also make sure you're not running overclocked when you start a "moral" debate...

I'm sorry I didn't know you two spoke for everyone on this forum.
And that no one else was intitled to a comment or maybe had somthing interesting to say about this subject.I've only heard you criticize and complain why this is a waste of time.I had asked for input and the only thing that you contributed was to make the comment that it had been done to death.
Maybe other people have an opinion on this subject so if you don't mind will get back to the subject. I apologized if the post sounded self rightous now let other people say what on their mind about pirated software. Thanks again for your post
Tinker:)
Geez...give it a rest. If you feel pirating games/software is wrong, don't do it and support the industry with your money. Sure way to ensure more good software in the future!
If you like pirating, Black Friday should have good sales on blank media coming up.
See! there is good input out there. :)Quote:

I should add that in my beginning computer days (1991-94) I used to copy games. After that, I bought all my games. Now, I did make sure I knew exactly what I wanted, and bought only the best (With a few exceptions).
Borrowing games is illegal. Lending games is illegal. These are the thin edge of the wedge. Me and Tinker Dave wish the world was a pretty place with no bad people.
and I thought this was going to be a review on Sid Meiers Pirates!:D
wow, I never thought I would hear people argue that pirating software is the right thing to do.
It's not. That's why I don't do it [anymore].
But I won't tell of your sure descent to the fiery pits of hell because of YOUR actions. You are responsible for that, and I can't judge you for it.
People are talking about pirating software as if it is in some grey area of some moral system, but it isn't, it is very clearly illegal.
I visit Uncle Juarez whenever there is a game I really want and there isn't a demo out. Unfortunately there are very few games out now that I really want to spend the time trying to get so I don't see Uncle Juarez much anymore. Sure it's illegal.... but I won't sit here and preach to others why they should or shouldn;t do it. It's my personal choice and I know the risks that I am taking. :)
I have found Warez sites such a pain in the azz (My time is worth more than that). I am happy enough paying for what I use, and I make sure what I buy is something I really want.
wheres the fun in stealing if there's no risk?
I purchased the game "Thief 3" only to steal within the game and loved every minute of it. How can it be wrong when it feels so right?
Mood: Distant, heavy drip of sarcasm in the background.
I'm going to be a little more concise than I planned... and just reply to this comment without giving my opinion. The reason to be upset with this type of thread is its been beat to death over and over. You will always have people supporting and people against it. BOTH sides get upset and flame each other. You can not tell someone they should think one way and expect them NOT to become upset.Quote:
