What kind of toon should I make.
I made a bionic/tech with the idea of using them to just unlock the bionic achievements. Can you just spam the skill even if there is no enemy? Is it worth it?

From my experience playing through it on 360 the soldier is by far the best. The AI isn't good enough to be efficient DPS and guns are practically the only way to do decent damage. You will get tons of support character to add to your party.
I used a tech first time through.
I am playing a solider now. Want to try and unlock a few more of the additional skills for a 2nd/3rd playthrough of the same character to up make them more versatile.
For what it's worth, my first playthrough with a tech, despite being restricted to pistols, was cake. I did more damage than the AI did, and I usually had heavy hitters (machine gun and shotgun) with me.
the combo classes don't get access to all the abilities that the specialized classes do individually.
I made a Vanguard character. I'm having a hard time controlling my AI teammates with the inability to see them. I'm only on the train at the beginning and not really enjoying the firefights..I can't hit crap.
I used soldier on my playthrough, the AI teammates really didn't figure in till later on with Sarin. Pretty much a run and gun game most of the way through when it came to firefights. My advice to you Astro is the restart with the soldier class, so that you can get the riffle, pistols, sniper riffle and shotgun. You haven't even started the game really so nothing lost.
I agree, solider class is a good one to pick.
I'm playing through it now, got my spectre status now time to get the sniper rifle skills up so I steady my aim.
Sniper rifle in this game rules.
How long should it take to play all the way through?
If I go soldier, can I still unlock bionics and talents by having my squad use them?
Yea i'm my second play through, at 4 hours now (I don't get much time to game) first mission heading towards peak 15 only 38 more hours to go (last time it took me 42 hours then I lost my save file)
I think my first play through on the 360 had me around 20 hours, but I am replaying it on the pc and finding that I missed a few things so this might take longer.
Yup 42 hours of of me exploring a lot, and enjoying pieces here and there of info and doing all side quests.Quote:
I let a friend burrow my copy when I get it back I will have to have a look and see just how long it was, I did skip allot of the non-essential stuff.
I did just about everything on 360 in 33 hours. Was kind of disappointing in length.
On the first playthrough use the soldier, just so you can get the feel of the game. After that use the other classes (any of them).
edit: took me 28 hours to finish. Half of that was romping around on that retarted mako...okay maybe 1/3. And for me that is plenty of time for a game. I couldn't take it much longer. I am NOT and RPG player so this was perfect for me. In any other RPG I lose interest. (Oblivion, Fallout 3, Morrowind).
I'm sticking with my Vanguard. I've moved the story along and I'm at the Citadel running around getting the back story. and my first observation ELEVATORS SUCK. *** were they thinking? I'm getting intel on some guy in a bar and that's were I stopped. The game better start picking up the pace, please tell me it does.
I'm playing the PC version. Well I will stick it out then. Glad I'm not the only one who's not enjoying the citadel part. It actually kind of reminds me of the beginning of KOTOR. The cities are similar IMO.
Amen to that. I'm on my second play through to get more achievement unlocks (which is only for my benefit, because the steam version of the game doesn't have steam achievements, nor does it tie into Live.) Not entirely looking forward to another 40+ hours, but at the same time I am. :)
i was an infiltrator. it was good w/ tech and i love sniping :D for close combat, the pistol was actually pretty amazing if you pump points into it. i liked it better than the shotgun and auto.
i pretty much used wrex and the turian through the whole game. their throw and warp abilities were really handy. it wasnt too difficult on normal. i thought my team was pretty well balanced.
btw, when you're on a planet, try to take out what you can w/ a rifle or something because you get more xp than if you just run over people. although it's more fun to do that -__-
