FFXIII gets a giant MEH from me. Not a fan of the linear snorefest that is the Final Fantasy series.
I love the FF games, but dont want to spend money to buy a console just for one game pretty much. I dunno, I think Linear RPGs still hold the top crown. A lot of the open ended rpgs, while fun, tend to lose out on story and suspense, imo. I think a game needs a certain degree of linearity...
I'll wait to pick up one of the many used copies to grace craigslist in the coming weeks.
I'll be getting it for sure.
I've been following every bit of any story related to this game. Watched every trailer. The story, the gameplay, everything about it just looks fantastic. I hope it's as engrossing as FF7 and FF8 were.
I hope the 360 screenshots that I saw recently aren't indicative of the final.
I haven't played any Final Fantasy since #7 and I didn't even care for that one, sooo... it'll be nice to give the FF series another whirl. I seem to be playing every JRPG *except* the FF series recently.
I will probably pick this one up used, I loved FF12 ( best in the series imo ) but I am poor at the moment and have a huge backlog of games I can plow through waiting for 13 to go on sale.
I've got a $10 GC for BB sitting around and can't decide between this or GoW 3. GoW has always been hit or miss with me and the demo didn't do much. The reviews for this say it's linear and back to basics. This I can live with since the micromanaging and mmo esque 12 didn't click with me.
holler at me when they release a decent Front Mission game over here. That's the only japanese franchise I'd really care to see.
I'll probably get it used this summer. I've enjoyed most of the games in the series.
Damn, I still need to beat FF12.
Shoot, I've never beaten a single FF game. I got close in FF6, FF5, FF1, and FF4 but I never sealed the deal.
I beat FF4 so many times I probably had 3 light years on the old Big Whale. All those trips to the moon and back add up.
I still need to beat Mass Effect 2 and Borderlands, so I can't justify picking it up day one but I'll get it down the road.
What platform are you getting it for?
I'm thinking PS3 if only because FF13 Versus is only coming out on it and I part of me wants to keep the series on one platform. It's also on a single blu-ray for the PS3 version but you do have those initial installs.
the last FF I've played was FF7 on the original PSX.
it seems with each new sequel the guys looks more and more like "fruits" the way they dress
I only have a 360 so, that'll be it. It comes on THREE DVD's. Crazy. Not a big deal for me though. Since I always remove the disc from the system when I'm done playing, and the fact that the disc will only need to be swapped once every 20-40ish hours of game-play, who cares. The graphics won't be quite as nice as the PS3 since, on the PS3, the game is rendered natively at 720p and the CGI's are rendered at 1080p...and on the 360 it's 576p (i think) for game and 720p for CGI. Plus the image and audio compression...but every review I have read say it's damn near impossible to detect the differences. Especially since I play on a 32" 720p LCD, I'm sure I won't even notice (although i game and watch blurays at 1080i).
Although if you have a PS3, pick it up on there. Uncompressed audio+video = teh win.
I'm curious if know if any DLC will exist and if so what for each system.
Squaresoft would be insane not to offer something. It would print money.
wow, nice surprise, I completely forgot about this. I'll probably be picking it up the day it comes out
I kinda like changing discs. Feels like some sort of achievement. Actually, with Lost Odyssey it IS an Achievement, lol.
I've played them all since III (not to be confused with FF 6), minus XI.
The last few have been rather "meh" for me. I despised VIII when I played it in '99 (although I can't remember exactly why after over 10 years, so I'm thinking of playing again), thought IX was entirely forgettable and mediocre, X had promise but I couldn't get into the plot or care about the characters, XII was alright but the "star wars meets Shakespeare meets political intrigue" plot didn't do much for me. And the gameplay felt like an MMO grind faaaar too often.
I guess the last true FF game I was really "wowed" by was FF 7, in '97.
FF6 is still my personal fav. I love the story.
7 is my favorite. Loved the setting.
