If you disable RealID then your friends with RealID enabled are removed from your friend's list. What are you guys doing? We need to either all go RealID or all go without.
I vote we go without realID to stick it to blizz :p
Wow...that sounds fairly stupid. Blizzard should allow a user to selectively choose who has access to their real id info and who doesn't.
This all or nothing crap looks like it was a last minute addition to turn off real id which was originally meant to be forced on. Maybe in a future patch they'll offer greater flexibility.
Wait... I can't add non-realid friends to my list? That sounds like the opposite of what I read.
EDIT: Confirmed, you can keep Real ID enabled and add people based on character. When doing this, you only see their game name in your friends list, not their full name.
EDIT2: I am Kamakazie 595
The friend system is pretty whack so far. I have real id enabled. Click the friend icon, then add friend to see your char code on the right. You need char name and code to add peeps.
Meant to write I have real id disabled. Done with the placement matches. Only 1 zerg opponent the rest were Terran. It's like playing SF4, everyone online is Ken.
This is where I read the thing about removing realID friends:
What do you make of that?Quote:
Enabling Real ID grants access to the advanced social features of Battle.net, including chat across different games. If Real ID is activated, the real first and last name associated with the account (your real name or your child’s) will be visible to others. Please note that deactivating Real ID will remove your Real ID friends from your in-game friends lists. For more info, visit our Real ID page.
You probably see only the sub accounts but not the master realID. So if I have x amount of SC2 accounts under my readID, but have realID disabled, you can still friend those sub accounts. However you probably have to friend them all individually. Thats my guess anyways.
Would be nice to hear how this works.
Near the end of beta lots of people were playing Terran. Mech is awesome against zerg, and bio w/ghosts is outstanding against Protoss. Some were complaining that Terran may be a bit over powered, but I don't know. In the King of the Beta tourney a Zerg player won.
Lost my last placement match against a zerg on metalopolis. I thought I had him finished but he managed to get Brood Lords to my base. I destroyed everything he had, but couldn't take his spine crawlers out. So he won the game with two brood lords. I had a pylon in his base, so that's what I get for cheesing. Went 2 - 3 and got placed in bronze where I belong.
Taggart man I love you man but please stop trolling and bashing the SC2 threads until you get it. Please.

Surprised nobody's mentioned the Facebook integration yet. If you let SC2 log into your Facebook account, it will search through all of your contacts and tell you who has a Battle.net account, prompting you to add friends. Pretty cool.
Sorry it sounds like a I'm trolling, but i'm honestly interested on how this works and I'm just offering my opinion. I'f I'm right or wrong on anything, please feel free to clarify.
As for my position with SC2 I've already stated that int he SC2 thread. you can go there to read it. Lets try no to bog this thread down with any SC2 arguments.
Dude. Epic. That is one of my favorite series! Currently on Xenocide just about finished with it :D btw we need your number to add you.
I don't see the problem with realID...a character name and number works just fine. I don't really plan on making another character outside of playing the campaign again so no problem there either. I trust the people that I will give my name to, but that is not even necessary as the character name and code works perfect.. Will check the facebook thing and let you know.
Noob question - where do I find the "code" for my character name?
I did not know about the real ID thing when I made my account, so my account has my real name. I don't want peeps to see my real name, and I don't have facebook. That's how I roll. I find it odd that you have to sign up for parental controls, receive an email, follow link in email, and only then you will be presented the option to turn off real ID off.
People will not see your real name unless you add them (or they add you) via email address. With RealID enabled you still have the ability to add friends via in-game name+code and you will see them and they will see you by that name. There is no reason to disable the feature unless you don't want anyone to add you by email.
