Beta enrollment is live for 48 hours. You have to run a system scan to report your setup. The reporting tool is crashed because of the huge load on the servers. Good luck gents!

Shhhhhh! What are you doing man?! Keep this on the dl. :)
Gotta wait til I'm home before I can do this, but I hope I get in!
Sent my info on my work drafting laptop. Now to do the same on my home computer!
I tried playing my old guild wars characters and was just getting owned. I had a couple 20s with all kinds of farmed/caught skills and couldn't even make it through one battle lol, and I don't want to start again. Sooooo off to try to get into the beta for #2 and hope all my sweet trophy things from 1 will make it to 2.
I really enjoyed the instancing in Guild Wars, but I also never really considered the game to be an MMORPG.
Not me. I think developers use the crutch of everyone wants to be a hero, but I don't think that is true. I think everyone wants to play a part, however significant that is doesn't matter as much. It is much harder to make a game with thousands of people making small contributions to an overall world rather than instancing generic experiences so everyone can kill the "troll king" and free the small town a thousand times.
Sure but it doesn't have enough structure. There needs to be events that happen and such. There needs to be more than player made goals. I'm not a game developer, but it it will be one of those things that when someone figures out how to make it work without instancing yet everyone feels like they made a noticeable contribution to the story or world, that it will feel like we should have been doing it this way forever.
I simply dislike how after 100+ hours of gaming, my character is practically the same as anyone else of a similar class or race. I think a good first step is making the actual player model change with levels, skills, deeds, etc. Take all my gear off and I look like a lvl 1 in most games.
I was joking, but I do dislike Eve always coming up when I discuss this idea (not just here.) Eve is fun and all, but not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about this taking place on a world, with characters and such. If you guys are cool with instancing, that's fine, I understand that. I'm not interested in an MMO that does that stuff anymore though.
Saw this on Kotaku regarding the recent beta weekend:

I played Tera which was okay but not very engaging. GW2 looks to be really fantastic.
How does the beta work? Do they keep making certain weekends open to the beta testers or is it always running?
The two hours I played of beta this weekend were very entertaining. Definitely still needs some polishing and tuning, but the game is a lot of fun.
