I just want to know if I'm missing something? Or maybe, I just don't get it. But, calling ASUS the "stability king" is like saying Bill Clinton is a role-model! Please explain to me and the 1000's of ASUS customers who have been unstable ASUS mobos.

I have built over 100 machines with ASUS motherboards and have had absolutely no stability problems with these motherboards. No comment as to the stability of other ASUS boards, however, the ASUS A7V version 1.01 and version 1.02 has spawned thousands of posts on various forums regarding problems with stability. If this board was as stable as all of the early reviews indicated, why has ASUS published at least nine BIOS versions since July of this year?

My opinion is that If you set the A7V up correctly then you will have no stability issues. I know I don't.

I have built 100's of machines also as a fellow network admin. I have used Asus, Intel, Abit, Msi, Tyan, and others. Asus is very good. Most are ok if you use them correctly. I am partial to Abit simply because of the overclockability of thier boards. When it comes to sheer overclocking issues its hard to beet the Abit soft menu.
Asus builds a good board but most of the people in these forums are overclockers. For them I would recomend picking the rest of their components more carefully. Nothing screws up a system worse than "cheap' memory.Next on the criticle list is video board selection. Remember, when you overclock you are pushing the whole system higher. If you install a video (or any card for that mater) card and it won't like overclocking you have a STABILITY problem.The best bet is to read, read, read, and make your choice on something other than pure fps. Frames per second isn't worth a whole lot if the board won't take the overclock.
For the AMD users you need to be aware of their need for plenty of power. And your Memory choice is even more criticle. When you start a T'bird with inadequite power, use a Geforce2Ultra, and then cheap memory , you'll be lucky to get past the boot screen. When I build gaming T'birb systems I always use at least 300 watts of power and either Muschin or Micron memory. And please use a good cpu cooler.

i must say that i both agree and disagree at the same time. many of my friends are using asus mb's, some of them are very happy with them and some of them not. i'm not so very happy with my a7v atleast. it's stabile as a rock in windows and in all apps but in games is it as instable as it can get i think. i know from many of my friends also that there is many defect a7v mb's, that can be one of the issues of istability and one more thing is that when using a7v you must select your components very carefully otherwise you'll get an very instable and worthless system
I agree. I don't know why Sharky continues to recommend the A7V after all the problems people have had with them. The Abit KT7 and the MSI K7T Pro2 are clearly the superior motherboards.
Most problems with asus mobos are PBDAC
(Problem between desk and chair).
If you overclock, you can't expect that this will work without further attention regarding cooling.
And if you have an ASUS mobo and over clock and it doesn't work, you can easily say its a problem of the mobo, but it's pointless if you dont prove it.
Many people in here use ASUS stuff and overclock, most of them don't have problems.
My system is rock stable, although it's slightly overclocked. I use ASUS mobos since my first 486DX33, and didn't experience anything worth crying.
You guy just gotta be careful what you do.

Only thing to remember is that they are dealing with VIA now. Via is the one that has the problems. They have a new flash for the A7v now that fixes many of the problems people have been having. But after looking into it some more. Alot has to do with making the VIA drivers run 100%...Shhessh
These people put to much trust in 3rd party junk.. It might work for Nvidia..But one day it may bite them in the Ars likw RAmbus is the Intel. And Via is to AMD...

i know more than a couple people who have downloaded bios updates from Abit that have been faulty and killed the motherboards...
i have yet for asus to kill a motherboard in a bios update (*note the yet)
I personally feel that it isnt the manufacturer that i side with, but what board it is, what chipset, and whats being done with it. I mean i cant imagine i would buy the first gen motherboard for a new chipset type and claim its the best, most stable board out there. It wouldnt matter who made it :P

Never had a problem with Abit out of 100's of computers I have made. Asus have always been happy until P.O.S. A7v. Even after all bios updates I cannot put more than 1 piece of Crucial in the machine. And no, I don't overclock this one since the stability was even worse.
