Sorry, AMD has a valid point. If you think I read every post in every forum on every site I oversee, you're mistaken. It is the jobs of the moderators to deal with this stuff, but they too can't possibly see and deal with it all. Point out the URL of inappropriate posts and we'll deal with them accordingly.
And we tried letting people discuss the tragedy. I told the mods to back off and let you guys discuss it on the first day... and watched it quickly degenerate into the good old fashioned OT we all knew and loved.
We don't have an OT forum, plain and simple. We have a lot of great forums and great people using them, so I hope that still makes SharkyForums worth visiting. If OT is something you must have, whether instead of what we offer or in addition to it, I suggest you seek it elsewhere.
As for any implication of bias, AMD, you have been shown an unbelievable amount of leniency given how often and how notably you have broken rules... to the extent that I/we have been criticized for not dealing with you more severely. So please spare me any attempts to act victimized.

I'm shocked - when did we get rid of O/T - because I sincerely recall gathering my 1700 posts answering "What's better - Athlon or Pentium" 1699 times aside from my first post on these forums, saying hi to everyone, but that thread was locked right away.
Boogs got to GWS answering "Which heatsink/fan is better" 5000 times. No, wait, there was that one time when he posted in the "HELP I BROKE MY COMPUTER" thread that pops up four or five times a day.

EDIT: I'd better add more than that. If it's an OT topic, you all get your counts up for a while anyways. When that's over with, there's no point in raging about the loss of a "hey man" topic. Maybe there are a few snipers in the mod group, maybe not. I hope not, niether do I care because I don't let it get to me. But the attrition rate being expressed is probably alot lower than the reality of each of these situations. I love you watchdog guys keeping the situation clear, asking about why posts are closed, but mild OT is innevitable(the integrated kind) and I guess acceptible. No reason to start a fire over it. I'm trying to agree with the good points everyone is making from each side. There's good community in this talk, but the base line I'm finding here is that it's trivial stuff.

On the subject of bigger OT subjects like the current WTC event:
I'll leave my opinion on the specifics out. Sometimes the situation really is intense. Right now the developments in this scenario are stretched out and redundant, sometimes people need to get together and talk it out as Housen allowed during the major initial disaster. I'd leave the def of these events as semantics as it is subjective as to what is major when the occurances are drawn out over such a long period of time. Megalodon Administrator #1 will make the call on this when/if it happens again. Let's pray it doesn't get worse and justice is definate.

My own thoughts? You guys said nothing concerning this topic (The WTC terrorism) would be locked, and we WOULD be allowed to discuss it.

Arcadian's thread itself was nothing more then a petition. It in in of itself did not advocate spamming or degenarative OT posts in any of the current forums. It was simply a petition to form a new forum for the discussion of political, social and economic rammifciations arising from the recent treagedy.
In the context of what these forums are (imho a community), I don't think the post was any more wrong then a "I'm leaving" or "Intel Sucks!!!!" thread. Certainly, it was definitly within bounds if it didn't disrupt the flow of the forums and we are to think the members of these forums have some chance to voice their opinions. I understand that several degenarative flame war threads do get locked up (albeit after reaching the double digits in post count), but I don't quite understand why this thread was not just locked up, but deleted.
For future reference, were any of us to choose to voice our concerns and/or recomendations on these forums, whom should we contact and how should we go about it?
I have a feeling we'll be seeing less of Arcadian on the forums in the near future, which in my opinion is a rather big loss. In the short time he's been here, he's already started more informative threads then we've seen in sometime. I've weighed in, and on that note I'll weigh out.

If I remember the thread correctly, Arcadian was either recieving support or freindly critque as to why we shouldn't dicuss said matters on these forums. No one was, or had the right to, attack Arcadian for voicing his views in the community in which he was most in his element (CPU/Overclocking). The thread was far cleaner (and more purposeful) then half the threads we see.
