I was in a similar pickel once. I went to a battery +bulbs and they let me borrow a battery. Darn thing booted right up.

But it also told me the a/c adaptor had broken away from the mobo...

On the new install - did you use the same username/password as the last time?

Is the new install the new version 1809? If seems like I recall that MS killed Home Groups or something related.
