Sounds like a bad install to be, or something is corrupting your install. I'm going to move this over to OS and hopefully they'll have some info to really help you out. Good Luck!

The K6/2 should now be reserved for displays only of old computer technologies, IMO.
Like everyone has mentioned, a Duron or lower T-Bird would probably be your best bet. How much are you looking...

The Duron is all but dead now, and it only hit 1.3 GHz. It's really isn't worth it, especially when you can get an AXP for not much more that would throughly crush said Duron.

Well, remember it was only considered a 64-bit system because it was running 4 16-bit processors in it. It wasn't a true 64-bit system.

I just run SETI@Home. Why? Because I run it 24/7 anyways and if it can hand SETI@Home 24/7, then it's good enough for me, since it's gonna do that anyways.
