im confused. I thought the americans fought the germans in ww1 and the japanese in ww2. But i thought omaha was in ww1 but then again i thought bf 1942 was a ww2 game since it has japanese in it but if there is a map called omaha then damn it confused.
Also what the hell kind of gun is that smg the japanese have in the demo

EB has it for $44.99. Go to ebworld.com and print out the voucher for $10 back and you gotz yoself a $35 game.
I really liked the demo and the retail version does improve upon it. Graphically it looks better, although load times do suck. The different vehicles rock and all these maps are wonderful. Had a lot of fun playing until 4AM this morning. Only real gripe I have is the single player. Very weak IMHO and seems more of a tool to use as practice for the MP as it is pretty much a MP game played only by you. No M1 sucks too since it is my favorite rifle, but I got over that in about 3 seconds. Otherwise, a great online game that I will playing for a while.

Omaha Beach was a military codename for a landing area during Operation Overlord which we Americans have foolishly misnamed D-Day (D-Day is a generic military term used to indicate how long until an operation begins or how long it has been started). Normandy is a region located in northern France on the English Channel. The goal of Operation Overlord was to establish a foothold on the European continent from which to organize a push against Germany. This gave the Allies a two pronged attack since their forces were already present in Italy.

sublim21,
Nice. I went to UB. =) I dormed in Ellicott on North Campus, and then lived at the Triad Apartments on Millersport.
If I remember correctly, there's an EB at the Galleria, and I'm sure Media Play or CompUSA on Niagara Falls BLVD. might have some.

You are correct sir! I HIGHLY recommend anyone interested i WW2 history to read "D-Day" by Stephen E. Ambrose and also his "Citizen Soldiers" book. Long reads, but very interesting and informative. "Band of Brothers" is also very good (by Ambrose as well). I haven't played the game yet, so I don't know if it's any good or not, but the one thing that already bugs me about it is that it's called "Battlefield 1942". Why did they have to attach 1942 to the title? D-Day was June 6, 1944. Ah well, it's just a title after all . Is this game only multiplayer or is there a single player aspect to it as well?
