Anybody know when the Granite Bay chipsets are released for intelbased systems?

Which well be better, Granite Bay or nForce 2?

You can't compare nForce 2 and GB, due to the fact that one's an AMD chipset and the other's an Intel chipset.

Both are DC DDR... GB will likely see more of the bandwidth being used than the nForce 2, but that's due to the different fsb's.

Granite Bay motherboards will not be cheap. I think it is intended to be Intel’s workstation chipset for the P4. IIRC the consumer Dual DDR chipset is going to be Springdale, next year. I guess it is possible Intel will push it for consumer use as well and price it accordingly, but I’d advise not getting ones hopes up.

Its for the low end workstation market which means it will be 50 bucks above normal i845pe mobo and i850e but its well worth it

    http://www.hardforum.com/showthread...threadid=506435

I myself am willing to pay 250 bucks for an abit gb max board.

With a 1;1 muiti i will be able to take my 2.53 to 163/163 which makes me very happy

The most recent comments from reliable sources that I've read seem to indicate that Granite Bay based motherboards should be available at some point in November, likely late November. Hopefully thats true. I expect that I will either go with Granite Bay or an SIS 655 as the platform for my now LONG delayed super pc.

I'm dieing for more info on these chipsets! I was just wondering, will these mobo's overclock any good even though they are "low end workstation" chipsets?

I already ordered 2 sticks of Muskin pc-3200 256mb I'm also going to see how good they can overclock on my current Asus P4S533 with the 4:6 divider.

Check this link, its a thread that showed pretty great overclocking performance that Kyle over at Hard OCP got with a beta Asus board. Granite Bay could be the hot ticket.

As for price, I'm guessing about $200-225.00 for the better boards. And per several reports, Asus, MSI, Abit, Epox and others all showed high performance/overclockable "enthusiast" level Granite Bay boards at the recent show.

I know this isnt GB but its placer so close enough =)

But isnt this board like mighty small for a dually board or is it just me? It looks small enough to be standard ATX even though the power connectors are WTX or whatever
